Turning an iPhone Pic Into A Poster

I've had this poster print for several years. I still like it, but I was wanting something with more neutral colors in it. The blue was making it clash with all my holiday decor. :) Here's a pic of the old print...

I still really liked the frame, but the blue colors were really bugging me.

Here's a closer pic.

I looked at several stores for a new print, but couldn't find anything. My youngest son heard me complaining that I couldn't find anything I liked. He immediately started searching the camera roll on his iPhone for a suitable pic. Love that boy!! He found a pic he had taken of a blue plumbago bush in our backyard. It has gorgeous blue flowers on it. The only problem was that I was trying to get away from the blue color. I told him it would be the perfect pic if only the flowers were white instead of blue. He sat down and worked his magic and just a few minutes later he turned the blue flowers into white ones!

I couldn't believe how perfect it was! I told him it was exactly what I was looking for! That boy knows WAY more than I do about our computers, iPhones, etc. He's our "go to" person when we need help with anything relating to computers or iPhones. When Apple recently released the iOS7 update for our phones, he's the one we all turned to for help installing it. :) His high school offers lots of computer related classes including several graphics design classes and he's taking advantage of all of them. :)

Anyway, he transferred the pic from his phone to an SD card (by the way...I just had to stop and ask him what that "thing" was that he transferred his pic to--ha!) I took the SD card to Walmart and had them blow it up to a 16x20 poster print. I loved the results!! Here is the finished product...

Isn't it beautiful? I think it's just perfect! I love the neutral colors. It'll go so well with our Christmas decor now. :)

Here's a closer pic. (These pics should enlarge when clicked.)

I love how he was able to adjust the color and turn it from blue to white.

I still can't believe this pic was taken with an iPhone! It's amazing what those phones can do these days. It was able to retain its sharpness even when blown up to a 16x20. My pics really aren't doing it justice, but hopefully you can get the idea of what a wonderful job he did. :)
I'm so happy with this transformation! Walmart only charged around $12 for the 16x20" size printed on poster quality paper and it only took an hour for them to print it. I actually still have the original print in the frame...I just turned it over and placed the new flower print right on top of it. Thankfully the back of the old print was plain white, so it just acted like a mat for my new pic.

Hope y'all have a great day!

  1. Very cool and such a great idea! Now that you know how to use the SD card I'll tell you another secret...you can upload the pics from your computer to WalMart or Walgreens and it will be printed out when you get there. No waiting!

  3. I really like the new pic! I never would've guessed that was taken from an iPhone. Technology today is so impressive. The white color of the flowers looks so pretty against your wall color too.
