This and That and a New Truck

Hello there! So, I mentioned awhile back that my oldest son is about to graduate college (in December) and he was fortunate enough to secure a job already. Now that he's making "real money" he wanted to reward himself with a new truck.

The dealership didn't have exactly what he wanted in their inventory, so he custom ordered one. We've never ordered a vehicle before, but it was the neatest experience. He basically placed an order with every little thing he wanted on his truck. He was able to completely build it from the ground up with all the accessories he wanted. In just four short weeks, they delivered it.

And here she is...

It's a 2016 Ford F-150 XLT Super Crew and he's thrilled with it! I can't believe how much room there is. He's so high up too. He can see so much better than when in his car.

We're so happy for him. He's done so well in college and we are so glad he has a job that he loves. :)

What's funny is that we're a Honda family...like hard core Honda. We've only bought Honda vehicles for the past 15 years. We've been so pleased with them and they last forever. Anyway, I've been thinking that I should get a smaller SUV for my next vehicle. So, when we were at the Ford dealership, I started looking around.

I noticed the Escape Titanium and really liked it! I won't be in the market for another new car for a couple more years, but I'm going to keep that one in mind. Do any of you drive the Ford Escape Titanium? Maybe it's time to branch out a bit and try something new. :)

Now let's talk food...I used to buy Hot pockets for my boys to have as a quick lunch. Then I came across these in the frozen aisle...

(And no, this is NOT a sponsored post) They're called Better Bakery Artisan Melts. They're about $3 a box and there are two in each box. My boys and hubby LOVE them! They say they are like glorified Hot Pockets, or "fancy" Hot Pockets. Lol!

I finally tried one the other day and they were right. It was so good! The bread is very soft and has lots of seasonings in it. There is a lot of filling as well. I just happened to have all the current flavors in my freezer at the time, so I took pics of each for you...

Have y'all tried them? Let me know if you're a fan like me. :)

I posted this on IG the other day...

This is one of my favorite spots for curling up with a good book (or rather, my Kindle) and reading the entire afternoon. The only thing is that it's one of Holly's favorite places too, so we have to fight over it sometimes. Ha!

Oh, and speaking of books, I've been reading a new-to-me cozy mystery series. It's called the "Frosted Love Cozy Mysteries" by Carol Durand and Summer Prescott. It sounds like a romance novel, but it's not. There's a little bit of romance, but mostly it's a good mystery without a lot of blood and guts.

I bought the first 10 books on Kindle (for only $6) and read them all within a couple of weeks. You can read a little about this series HERE

Hope y'all have a great day!

  1. Thanks for the tip on the fancy Hot Pockets. It looks like something my son would like. I have a Ford Expedition and just love it. I almost got the smaller suv - the Explorer - and it looked nice too.

  3. Congratulations to your son!! A new truck is a right of passage in Texas. We've had 3 F150 Crew Cabs and can promise that he's going to love it. :)

  5. Congrats to your son on graduating soon and his beautiful new truck! Will your son be moving out into his own place now? I drive a Ford Escape Titanium, btw! I love it too. I have had Honda's before and loved them, but when I wanted an SUV, I got a used Ford Explorer that had every bell and whistle you could imagine. I love it. Then, I decided to get a new SUV and I didn't really need a great big Explorer, so I looked at the Escapes and fell in love once I test drove it. Mine has every bell and whistle (except the back up camera). I look forward to driving it every day. You will not be disappointed if you get one. I have never tried that brand of hot pocket sandwiches. Not sure if my 15 yr old would eat those or not. It's certainly worth a try though. I'll have to look for them. He's my picky eater! It's like walking on egg shells whenever I introduce something new to him. Ha!

  6. Congratulations to your son! What an accomplishment - graduation, a job and a brand new truck! He's so deserving and am sure he will enjoy it for many years to come. We don't have any Fords in our family at the moment, but I really do love my Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's just the right size for me without being too large. Isn't it funny how we know exactly which vehicle is right for us the second we slip into it?

  7. Please tell your son that we are proud of him too.....and he picked the BEST truck!!!!! We have the 2015 in beautiful dark green :^)
I also have the Escape that you are looking for...it is a wonderful car overall. My only complaint is that the seat is not really comfortable, and it should be. I am on the list to see the dealer in the next week or two...hopefully he will be able to solve this problem. I have driven Fords most of my life (my first car was a 1946 sedan with suicide doors :^), and never had any real problems. My brother and all of his family have been driving Escapes for the last 15 years. He has one or two with over 250 thousand miles.
    Blessings to you,
    J
PS: I get about 26 MPG on my Escape.

  8. Congratulations to your son! It is so wonderful to watch them achieve everything they want in life. My oldest son has the same truck. It is a 2015 and he loves that thing. LOL We also own a Ford Edge. It is a little bigger than the Escape and a wonderful car. Not a problem since the day we bought it. Fingers crossed! Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Hugs, Maria

  10. I've always been a big fan of Hot Pockets, but I had never heard of the Better Bakery artisan melts until now. I typically need something in the morning that I can quickly cook before I head out the door, so if artisan melts can fulfill that role then I'll probably take a closer look at them in the future

  11. I am thinking about custom ordering my own vehicle so found your blog very inspiring. I am also struggling with what make to get. I am a die hard Chevy guy, but am thinking of going Ford like your son did. Really loved the ground clearance on it, hope your son enjoys!
