Cardigans, Earrings, and Donuts

Hello there! Hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend. I spent this morning boxing up all my bunnies and then trying to remember where all my everyday decor goes. I usually take a pic before I decorate for the holidays, but skipped it this time. Oh well, I'm constantly rearranging anyway. :)

I spent the longest time in my kitchen trying to decide where to put things. It took me two cups of coffee before I figured it out. Lol!

I had to share my Kohl's finds with y'all. I had a $10 off $30 coupon and $10 in Kohl's cash to spend. I intended to pick up some Keurig coffee pods, but found out you can't use those coupons on "consumables." So, what's a girl to do but browse the clothing section? I'm calling this an early Mother's Day gift to myself. :)

I found this cardigan on sale and fell in love with the light weight feel of it. I love wearing cardigans. I can be wearing capris and a blouse, but when I add a cardigan, necklace, and earrings, it just seems to dress it up a bit. Sounds corny, doesn't it? Lol!

I have one major requirement when shopping for cardigans. It HAS to be very light weight so I can wear it pretty much year round. And this one fit the bill! I held it up to the light so you could see just how light weight it is...

I love it! I now have a nice little collection of cardigans in my closet. :)

Here are the earrings I got. They were 50% off. I thought with all the colors, they'd go with lots of things.

Y'all are going to think this is so weird, but every time I buy a new pair of earrings, I immediately come home and clean them with rubbing alcohol. I guess I'm afraid someone tried them on in the store or something and the thought of them being in some stranger's ears kinda grosses me out. Lol!

Okay, are you ready for the bottom line? I got BOTH the cardigan and the earrings for a grand total of $15! Yay for a successful shopping trip!

Have y'all ever made homemade baked donuts? I was wanting to try my hand at it, so I used THIS recipe from Ina Garten. Here's what they looked like when I took them out of the oven...

That cute little donut pan made it so easy! Here's a pic of the finished product I shared on Instagram...

They were very easy to make and everyone enjoyed them, but I think they might need a little chocolate drizzle next time. ;)

  2. The cardigan is perfect for Texas spring and fall. I'd wear it in the summer at movies and places like that. Cute!! Your kitchen is always beautiful.

  3. I also love cardigans, especially light ones! And I can even wear them with a baby bump lol. I like the one you picked out! Such a neutral color that you can wear with different colors! And those earrings are fun too :)

I never even thought of cleaning earrings upon bringing them home from the store but it totally makes sense!

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

  4. I came back to tell you that I'm going to attempt to keep my ferns from last year like you did. There are tiny little fronds sticking out of the brown uglies. Don't know if I can be that patient but I'm going to try. :)

  8. Great finds! When you mentioned "cardigans" I immediately thought..."in Houston?" LOL I so understand though. I have 2 or 3 that are really light weight too. I'm with you on the alcohol! I can't stand anything that could have been tried on that isn't sterilized, so to speak. :)

I've wondered about the donut pans ~ the finished product looks delish! Chocolate would prolly make them better...or even salted caramel.

    Have a wonderful week!

  9. Oh......my......goodness! I love cardigans too! There's another common trait we share together. I have a small collection of them. And yes, I love how they sort of finish off an outfit. If you ever see any of my pictures, I usually have one on, or "had" one on before the pic was taken. I don't really wear them in the summer though because I get too hot in them. Yours is really pretty! I love Kohls! I'm a big shopper for clothes there. I recently took advantage of their Winter clearance items and found some tops and shoes at great savings. I bought my son's winter coat from them too. I don't wear earrings though. I used to have pierced ears and then had a problem with one of them and let them grow back. So, I would have to get them repierced in order to wear earrings. I usually wear my hair pulled back in some fashion, so I really should do that. I'm too chicken though. Did you miss watching our show on Sunday night? I know I did!

  10. I love cardigans, too. The weather here can be so weird, temps can go down in the evenings so it's nice to have one to throw over a tank or sleeveless top. I love Kohl's coupons, too, but I hesitate to open a credit account...too much temptation!

The donuts are so cool...wondering where you got the cool pan. One of the craft stores? They would be fun to make at the lake as we have no nearby bakery nor anything fresh in our ONE HUGE GROCERY STORE!! lol!

    Have a great week!

  14. I love chocolate frost on my donuts too! Yum! I love cardis as well, I have it in almost all colors! Problem with gauzy ones is that they snag easily, I'm such a clutz, so I usually go for solid ones and chunkier ones.
