New Plate Wall in the Dining Room

Well, we finally got around to adding the plate wall in the dining room. :) I think what finally pushed me to do it was when I saw a gorgeous plate on my friend Brandi's blog. I asked where she bought it and she said she got it at Pier 1. As luck would have it, Pier 1 had just emailed me a coupon so that weekend I went in search of it and I found it! I'm so happy with my plate wall!

Here's another look...

When I told my hubby I was using all cream/neutral plates, he thought I was a little crazy. I guess he thought I'd use multiple colors or something, but I really like the neutral look.

Here are some close ups of the individual plates...

I love this one below that looks like a doily. I actually got two versions of it to use for the plate wall.

Below is the plate I saw on Brandi's blog. Isn't it pretty?

I like this one with the little dots too.

Here's the other "doily" plate.

This last one is just one of our every day dinnerware ones.

One more look at the whole room.

Below is the "before" pic. I think the plate wall looks a lot nicer than these old prints I cut out of a book and framed. :)

These are the disc hangers I used to hang the plates. I didn't want any hooks showing, so these were perfect.

plate hanger disc

You just lightly wet the back of the disc with your finger, let it sit for about 3-7 minutes for the glue to get sticky, then stick it on the back of the plate and let it sit overnight before hanging. You do have to have a smooth surface for the disc to stick to. If your plate has heavy embossing or something like that, these might not work.

Here are my plates sitting on the dining table overnight. I wasn't sure one would be enough for that big platter, so I used two on it. They did have bigger discs that hold more weight, but my store was out.

Then we hung them the next morning. And just because I was paranoid about my new plates crashing to the floor, I placed these two blankets under the plate wall for a couple of days. :)

Thankfully, the discs have worked out great and I have since removed the blankets. Lol! I love how you can't see any of the hangers. Come back Wednesday when I'll share what I bought from Dear Lillie. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know. ;) I'll also share a homemade Popsicle recipe that was a real hit. :)

Hope y'all have a great day!

    1. Thanks, Sherri! I was going to buy a new platter for the plate wall, but then remembered I had this one that I never used. After I cleaned all the dust off it, it worked perfectly. :) So glad I had that coupon for the plates too. I've gotten to where I hate to buy stuff if I don't have a coupon. Ha! Hope you're having a great day!

    2. I am having a good wee, thank you :-) I know what you mean about the coupons. I waited over 2 months for a coupon to Bed, Bath and Beyond to buy a new mattress cover!
      Happy Wednesday ♥

  7. I love it! That plate wall is perfect for a dining room. I like the white colors you used. They play off the slipcovered chairs on the opposite side of the room well.

  9. So gorgeous.....I love them on the wall in your dining room!!!! I switched all my ironstone plates over to the discs last year. I did a few at a time since I have so many. I ordered mine from ebay since no one around here carries them. I love the way the hangers do not show now.

  10. Your plate wall is so pretty, Lisa! I'm so glad those discs worked for you, because they did not work for me. Maybe it was because my plates are all old & something to do with the finish kept them from adhering well. Anyway, yours looks wonderful!
