Spray Painting Lamps, A Shopping Deal, and A Question

Hey, y'all! I can't seem to put down the spray paint lately. These three lamps were my latest victims. :)

Here they are in their "before" state...

First, I taped them off with frog tape. Then I took them out in the garage and spent a quick 10 minutes spray painting them.

And here they are now...

I think the detail really shows up on them now.

I call this one below my "bubble lamp." :)

I think the white base looks so much better with the zebra lampshade.

Here's a collage I shared on Instagram. By the way, I pretty much post daily on Instagram, so if you'd like to follow along there too, you can find me at "texasdecor."

I recently had a 30% off coupon for Kohl's, so I stopped in there the other day just to see if anything caught my eye. They had a lot of summer things on sale for 60% off. I combined my 30% off coupon with the 60% off sale and this little candle holder ended up only being $2.41, so it made its way home with me.

I love the sand dollars and starfish on it. I put it on this little corner shelf in the living room.

Here's a closer look.

One quick change I made recently was to remove this old print that I've had above the fridge for years.

Here's how it looks now. I think it looks simplified and cleaner. Plus, you can really see the ivy now.

I guess that's all the changes for now. Knowing me, there will be plenty of changes in the future. Lol! I can't seem to leave anything alone for very long. :)

Now I have a question for y'all...what on earth can I put in my dough bowl on my kitchen table? Right now, I just have pine cones in it.

I asked my hubby what he thought I should put in it and he said "I don't know, maybe dough?" Funny guy.
I'm never really happy with what I put in it. I used to have some wicker-ish looking orbs in it, but got tired of them. Then I had fruit (real and faux) but got tired of that too. I was thinking maybe some of those moss covered spheres? Or maybe some faux hydrangeas? Let me know if you have any ideas. :)

  1. I love the small changes you've been making with your white spray paint! White paint (in any form) is a staple item at my home too. I think you should place some small potted herb plants in your dough bowl. That would look cute. You could get real ones or fake. Either way. They would go well in a kitchen and the greenery would compliment the wood.

  2. Love your lamps in white! They look so much fresher and brighter and go with your new couches a lot better :) I can't really tell how deep the bowl goes, but maybe some rocks and candles? The rocks could help the candles stay up and in place... just a thought but I'm sure whatever you decide will rock!

  3. The lamps look lovely, Lisa! The color really does make the detail on the lamps stand out and isn't it neat that paint can make such a big difference? Your living room looks so much lighter! :)

  5. Loving all of your white spray paint. Such a great way to update. In the dough bowl you could put apples. Look for dough bowls on Pinterest. There are many ideas on there.

  6. Love the lamps, Lisa, and your vignettes. For a summery look for your dough bowl -- have you considered a candle surrounded by sea shells? You could maybe have some sand or sea glass in the bottom to lift everything up a bit and not have to have so many shells to make it look full.

  7. Such great changes in your home. I love the idea of dried hydrangeas in the dough bowl. Or maybe the round greenery balls I have seen lately at Hobby Lobby. Whatever you go with it will be lovely :-) .

Hope you have a safe and blessed 4th of July!!!

    1. Thank you, Mary! I'm on a spray painting frenzy lately. :) What's funny is that I bought a lemon tree for the backyard and had visions of keeping my dough bowl stocked with fresh lemons all summer long. Then I found out my "lemon" tree was really an ORANGE tree!! Oh my. :) My nursery really needs to get better at labeling their trees. Lol!

  9. I love the spray painted lamps! As for the bowl, some fake or real succulents would be cute, maybe three in their own small containers...I like all the other ideas too!
