A Few Of My Favorite Things~Part Two

I thought it was time for another Favorite Things Post. If you missed the first one, you can see it HERE I thought I'd share a few more things that I've been enjoying lately. I'm not getting paid to endorse any of these things. They're just products I've been happy with. :)

I talked about the Suave anti-frizz cream in my first favorite things post, but I know a few of you were having trouble finding it. I just happened to get a free sample of this "L'oreal Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight Creme" in the mail the other day. I tried it out and loved it! I think it works just as well as the Suave. You just shampoo and condition then put this on towel dried hair, then blow dry. Once I used up my free sample, I went ahead and bought this full sized one at the grocery store for $5.99. It really does help with my frizzy hair in this humidity. :)

a few of my favorite things
Have y'all heard about the Skinny Cow candies? Oh my word, they're good! I personally like the dark chocolate one in the pic above. There are 6 pouches in a box and each pouch has about 5 or 6 candies in it. This one has 120 calories and 6 fat grams per pouch. I paid $3.50 for the box. A lot of the grocery stores carry these. When I bring them home, I immediately open all the pouches and empty them into one ziplock bag. That way I can easily just grab 2 or 3 at at time.

a few of my favorite things
Princess flavoring!! I couldn't wait to try this stuff! It's a bakery emulsion (kinda like an extract) and you can use it instead of  extract in any recipe. One teaspoon of this = one teaspoon of extract. This stuff smells so, so good! To me, it smells like a mixture of citrus and almond and a little like bubble gum. :)  I made some sugar cookies with it and they were delicious. I also used it in my buttercream icing for cupcakes and everyone liked them. :) I bought this at Hobby Lobby for $5.99. You could even use a coupon and get it for less. :)

I regularly buy these at Dollar Tree. I love them because they're really soft and melt in your mouth.  I usually pick up 3 or 4 bags every time I'm at Dollar Tree. We keep them in a drawer in the kitchen and everyone knows they can always grab one of these when they're here. :) They're called "Red Bird Brand Soft Peppermint Puffs" and of course they're only $1.

Ok, I'm really sorry to show y'all a pic of my flip flops, but they are the best flips I've ever had!! They're Reef brand Flip Flops. Mine are the "Sandy" version and I think I paid about $28 for them. I've had them for 4 years and I've seriously worn them almost every single day and they're still in good condition and are unbelievably comfortable. I even wore them going up and down all the hills in San Francisco and had no problems. They have them for men, women and kids. My mom recently bought a pair at Academy, but a lot of places sell them online too. I can't say enough about these flip flops. Love them!

I don't use a lot of hairspray, but if I go to the trouble of using a curling iron, I want it to stay. I kept hearing how well this hairspray worked, so I decided to try it a few years ago. I haven't bought anything else since. :) It's called "Freeze It Original Freeze." I like the "original" a lot better than the "mega." It holds my hair in place but doesn't get sticky or hard and keeps it "touchable" as they say. :) I don't know how it works, but it does. I paid about $4.50 for it at Walmart.

I think I was a little late to start using wax warmers, but now I'm definitely a fan. I got this one at Walmart for about $12. By the way, I always just use one wax cube and it smells up the whole house. I've seen people put 4 or 5 on at one time, but I think one does the trick. :) When you're done, just pour the melted wax back into the container and it'll harden back up and you can reuse it.

This is my all time favorite scent. It's called "cupcake."

Here's my collection of scents. I obviously love the "baking" scents. :) I  got most of them at Walmart for $2. Hobby Lobby sells them too, as well as Michael's and I think I've picked up a couple at those places too. Don't forget you can use a coupon at Hob Lob and Michael's. :)

Here's my Presto PopLite Hot Air Popcorn Popper. My kids love this even more than I do. :) You just pour some popcorn kernals into the top, plug it in, and it makes a whole bowl of popcorn in about 2 minutes. You can even set your butter on the top part while it's popping and it'll melt it for you. I ordered this on Amazon for $20, but they also have it at Walmart for the same price.

Here are some of our favorite popcorn seasonings to use with the popcorn popper. My favorite is Ranch. I've gotten these at HEB and Walmart. They're around $2 each.

Y'all...this is so neat!! This is the newer version of the one I have. It's a Rival Snow Cone Maker. Walmart has this for $19.98 and that's what I paid years ago. Money well spent, I tell ya. You just put regular ice cubes in the top, then push down on the lid and it makes a snow cone in about 30 seconds. It crushes up the ice really well for a sweet summer treat! There are plenty of syrups to choose from too.

Here are some Hawaiian Punch syrups at Walmart for $2.98.

Here's the older version I have. We use the heck out of this during the summer and it's held up great.

Judging by the size of these syrups, you can see just how much we enjoy these. :) I bought these huge containers at a party supply store for around $8. That's Strawberry flavor on the left and Wedding Cake flavor on the right. FYI...I just mixed a little Princess Flavoring in with my Wedding Cake snow cone and it was soooo good!!!
Well, that just about wraps up the Favorite Things Part Two post! Remember if you missed the first one, you can always see it HERE

One more thing...here's the mints in the kitchen drawer. :) I have to replenish it frequently because everyone likes them so much. :)

  1. Enjoyed reading about your favorites Lisa. I will have to try the chocolates. I haven't had chocolate for awhile. I miss it!

I like those soft mints, too. If you can find the peppermint sticks that are soft like the mints, they are great stuck into an orange. The sticks act as a straw. I was a Brownie leader for several years. When we would do hikes, we brought along a bag of oranges and soft peppermint sticks. This is so refreshing, on the trail.

    1. Hi Pat! I'm sure you'll love that chocolate, it's so good! I love those peppermint sticks too! They're my hubby's favorite. We stock up on them at Christmas time. :) I'll have to try the trick with the oranges. That sounds so refreshing right now (especially since it's 95 degrees outside) :) What a great tip!

  3. I need to start keeping those mints here in the kitchen drawer. If we have something like that around we are less likely to eat a big dessert. :)

We had a sno-cone maker when my kids were little. They loved it!

  5. Neat stuff! I love hearing about new products, if it weren't for ads in magazines I would never find anything new. The frizz mousse and hairspray sound fantastic. We get a lot of humidity here, too, and my hair triples in size! lol!

Hope you had a great holiday weekend!

    XO,
    Jane

  6. It's always fun to read your favorites, Lisa, and I love that most things are reasonably priced either at Walmart or the Dollar Store. I just hate paying a lot of money for something just for the name when I can get an equally good product for much less. I definitely want to try that hairspray. I for sure could not have those candies in the house.....lol! We have found some Sugar-Free candies at Walmart that taste very good and make us feel we are getting a treat!

I started out buying and using the Scentsy (this brand was the original & was sold only through home parties) wax and warmers, but quickly switched as soon as Walmart started carrying them (much, much cheaper). If you are new to these, then you might not have seen Walmart's seasonal offerings. I have a cute little pumpkin one that plugs into an outlet and a sweet Christmas one, too. I have the burners in several rooms in our home. Right now, Strawberries 'n Cream is our favorite for the summer, but I love the baking scents the rest of the year. I just bought ScentSationals at HL because the color matches my re-decorated guest bath (I'll be posting about that later), but it smells yummy, too -- Island Getaway.....sigh!

Hope you are having a great week!
