Amaryllis Blooms

It's that time of year Amaryllis is blooming! These bulbs came straight from my mom's garden and now I enjoy my own each spring!

Aren't they stunning?

I took this pic looking up at the bald cypress tree that was just starting to leaf out. This was just a few days ago and now it's almost full!

The bottle brush is starting another bloom cycle too. I postponed planting my Rudbeckia seeds the other day because we're still having some cool mornings, but I think I want to plant them front and center between the two bottle brush trees...

Love the red blooms against the blue Texas sky!

You can get a glimpse of one of the Lantana plants in the pic below. They should ramp up soon.

I forget what these pretty orange blooming things are called, but they go on and on all summer long.

If you look closely to the left of the blue plumbago in the pic below, you can see one of the Turk's Caps I planted last fall. I'm curious to see how they'll do this summer. I planted three of them and some already have several blooms.

The Loropetalum (Razzleberry bush) is still a nice burgundy color, but it'll change to green when it heats up.

So that's what it looks like out back right now. I hope I'm not boring y'all with these, I just like to document everything here so I can refer back to it when planning my garden each year.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I am ready to get out and get the garden going, but it has been quite cool here lately. I always see amaryllis at Christmas time.

  2. Oh my gosh, so pretty! Our amaryllis is just about to open up. We are a few days behind you. :)

  3. Lisa, I love seeing your garden. Especially now...we are freezing here. Crazy snow, sleet, rain, and a pop of sun once in awhile. Spring has yet to return to us. I love that bottle brush...and it really does look like brushes. The amaryllis is beautiful. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  4. Never boring!! You must love looking out your windows with all of that pretty color! Red...swoon!!

  5. Man, I need to catch up on your posts!! Your garden looks beautiful this time of year (actually your garden always looks beautiful, mind sharing your tips?)! It's so funny, I remember seeing your azaleas and thinking, boy those are pretty we should get some. Well...I guess we do have a couple of the bushes in the backyard my hubby planted last year but they just now started blooming so I had no idea what they were! I don't pay much attention to what he plants but I think I should start to lol.
    Always an inspiration, thanks!!

  6. They are amazing and a treat seeing your beautiful yard - happy weekend!

  7. Your have a beautiful yard, Lisa! I have bottle brush bushes but have never actually seen a bottle brush tree? It's beautiful, one of my favorite. Of course, any red bloom is my favorite! Thanks for sharing your documentation! Blessings, Cindy xo
