A few of my favorite things...

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...Ha! Sorry about that. I know you'll be singing that in your head the rest of the day now. :)

I wanted to do a post about a few neat products I've been using. I love to share when I find something that really works. Just click on each pic to make it bigger. Edited to add: You can also click HERE to see my Favorite Things Part Two post. :)

I cannot say enough about these three miracle workers! I live in the south, and we have  about 150% humidity in the summer. Well, maybe not THAT high, but it's pretty humid. I have naturally curly/wavy hair and the humidity does a real number on it. I use this Suave Keratin shampoo and conditioner and it really helps eliminate the frizz that comes with humidity. After I shampoo and condition, I towel dry my hair. Then I put a dime size amount of Suave anti frizz cream all over my hair and blow dry it straight as usual. I can now wear my hair straight and it doesn't frizz nearly as much. All three of these products are around $3 each.

And as a bonus, they now have it in a formula for color treated hair! Which is a good thing since I'm about to start coloring my hair for the first time ever!

I've also tried this, but to be honest, I like the Suave anti frizz cream better.  This stuff is around $10 and the Suave anti frizz cream is only $3, so that makes it even nicer.

I love this lip liner. It's wet n wild and the color is "brandy wine 666." If the "666" bothers you, just turn it upside down and pretend it's "999." :) I use it every day. It goes with all shades of lipsticks. Sometimes I even fill my lips in with it and use it as a liner and lipstick in one. It is kind of dry to use as a lipstick, so I usually use chapstick under it. This is a whopping .99 cents at any drugstore.

Here's a close up.

Just for fun, here's a pretty necklace I got from Zulily recently. I had some credits, so it was actually free! Gotta love Zulily!

I've been using this stuff for a few years and it seems to do the job. I use Neutrogena cosmetics too and their products have never bothered my skin. I use this at night and just apply a regular moisturizer with sunscreen under my make up during the day.

Homemade eye makeup remover recipe
This is the best eye make up remover I've tried. I've seen different versions of this floating around the internet a lot lately and it really works. I just mix up equal amounts of head to toe baby wash, olive oil, and water. That's it! I use waterproof mascara and it takes it off with ease.

I just mix it up in this container, then when I'm ready to remove my eye make up, I just shake it up and apply it with a cotton ball.

We recently went back to the basics with good old Ivory soap. None of the fancy fragrances or anything like that. Just  plain old soap.

This is the BEST mascara I've ever used!! It's Maybelline  Define-A-Lash lengthening mascara. I first heard of this on Erin's blog You really should head over to her blog. She is the BEST organizer I know! She always has neat organizing tips to make your home run smoothly. :) This mascara WILL NOT clump up. It glides on and stays all day. It says not to let it dry between coats, so I just apply a few coats one right after the other. It really does separate your lashes like I've never seen before. Love this stuff!

Real quick, here's a pic of what the packaging looks like for the mascara. I'd already torn into mine at this point, but you can still see it pretty well.

I've always had a problem applying liquid eyeliner. I like the way it stays on, but it's always been too messy to use. I just bought this the other day and I'm in love! It's actually an eyeliner PEN. It has a felt tip-like end on it and it's not messy at all. It's the first eyeliner I've used that STAYS on all day. Love it.

My kids LOVE this stuff! They're not big yogurt eaters. Well, they used to eat Gogurt when they were little, but lately they haven't really been into yogurt. Until I bought this, that is. I know it's not totally healthy with the m&ms and all, but hey, it's still yogurt, right? They each eat this at least once a day. I've tried it too and it's really good! One of my sons eats all the yogurt first and saves the m&ms for the end. :) I prefer to mix the m&ms into the yogurt.

Well, that's all for now. Hope you found something new to try. Let me know if you like any of these as well as I do. I plan to do a "favorite things" post regularly as I find good products.

  1. What a fun post! I always like to find out what other people find works for them. Some of your products look like they would be good for me too. I need more mascara and mine is not pleasing me right now. I may give yours a try. Also, I have natural curly hair and live in the south (with humidity) so those Suave products may be worth a try too. Thanks for sharing these!

I, too, love telling readers about products I've found that I like...especially foods. :)) I am pretty much a semi-homemade cook and there's lots of good stuff at the grocery stores to make a good semi homemade meal. :))
I am liking up to follow...come by to see me when you can.
