Turning an iPhone Pic Into A Poster

I've had this poster print for several years. I still like it, but I was wanting something with more neutral colors in it. The blue was making it clash with all my holiday decor. :) Here's a pic of the old print...

I still really liked the frame, but the blue colors were really bugging me.

Here's a closer pic.

I looked at several stores for a new print, but couldn't find anything. My youngest son heard me complaining that I couldn't find anything I liked. He immediately started searching the camera roll on his iPhone for a suitable pic. Love that boy!! He found a pic he had taken of a blue plumbago bush in our backyard. It has gorgeous blue flowers on it. The only problem was that I was trying to get away from the blue color. I told him it would be the perfect pic if only the flowers were white instead of blue. He sat down and worked his magic and just a few minutes later he turned the blue flowers into white ones!

I couldn't believe how perfect it was! I told him it was exactly what I was looking for! That boy knows WAY more than I do about our computers, iPhones, etc. He's our "go to" person when we need help with anything relating to computers or iPhones. When Apple recently released the iOS7 update for our phones, he's the one we all turned to for help installing it. :) His high school offers lots of computer related classes including several graphics design classes and he's taking advantage of all of them. :)

Anyway, he transferred the pic from his phone to an SD card (by the way...I just had to stop and ask him what that "thing" was that he transferred his pic to--ha!) I took the SD card to Walmart and had them blow it up to a 16x20 poster print. I loved the results!! Here is the finished product...

Isn't it beautiful? I think it's just perfect! I love the neutral colors. It'll go so well with our Christmas decor now. :)

Here's a closer pic. (These pics should enlarge when clicked.)

I love how he was able to adjust the color and turn it from blue to white.

I still can't believe this pic was taken with an iPhone! It's amazing what those phones can do these days. It was able to retain its sharpness even when blown up to a 16x20. My pics really aren't doing it justice, but hopefully you can get the idea of what a wonderful job he did. :)
I'm so happy with this transformation! Walmart only charged around $12 for the 16x20" size printed on poster quality paper and it only took an hour for them to print it. I actually still have the original print in the frame...I just turned it over and placed the new flower print right on top of it. Thankfully the back of the old print was plain white, so it just acted like a mat for my new pic.

Hope y'all have a great day!

Fall Decor Part 2 Dining Room, Foyer, and Front Porch

Today I'm back sharing more fall decor with y'all. :) Here are some pics of my dining room, foyer, and front porch. Be sure to check back again for Part 3 where I'll share my kitchen. All pics enlarge when clicked. Enjoy!

If you missed my Fall Decor Part 1 where I shared my mantel and living room, click HERE

Here's a close up of that monogrammed pumpkin by the front door. It started out orange and I spray painted it Heirloom White. I bought some faux fall leaves at Dollar Tree and used a hole punch in the tops of them and ran some raffia through the holes and tied them to the stem. I bought the "S" sticker at Hob Lob and just stuck it on the front. :)

I love this little table with the removable tray!

We picked up this buffet at an antique store several years ago.

Love this little witch and silver pumpkin!

I can never make up my mind which sign to hang on the welcome sign by the front door. I have a jack o' lantern (seen here), fall leaves (seen below) and a cornucopia. I usually keep the fall leaves out, then switch to the jack o' lantern right before Halloween, then put the cornucopia out right before Thanksgiving. It's like playing musical signs!

It's funny...while taking these pics, I noticed my plain ol' door bell. Now I want to get a fancier one. LOL!

Steals and Deals

I've been racking up the good deals lately and thought I'd share a few more with you. :)

Do y'all watch The Today Show? I usually have it on every morning. Occasionally they have Jill Martin on and she has a segment called "Jill's Steals and Deals." She shows a handful of products from makeup to jewelry to clothing and a little bit of everything in between. All these products are deeply discounted. If you want to purchase one, you just click on the link on the Today Show website and it takes you to the item you want to buy. They give you a code to put in to get the discounted price.

I recently saw these Betsey Johnson sunglasses on one of Jill's segments. They are regularly $75, but with the Today Show discount, they were only $15!!!!

I love them! They're over sized, which I like. :)

I think I have a sunglasses addiction. I'm always buying new ones. :)

I also frequent sites like Zulily, Groop Dealz,  Jane.com (formerly Very Jane), and Sassy Steals. Do y'all know about these? I have them bookmarked and check them daily. They have all kinds of things at great prices. I've ordered several things from them and have always been pleased with the products.

Last winter, I spotted these boot socks on Groop Dealz. I kept seeing them, but waited too long to order and they sold out. This year, I ordered early and finally got some!

I just love the cute little buttons and lace at the top. :)

Here they are sticking out the top of my boots. Now I just need it to get cooler outside so I feel like I can wear them. :)
I think I've mentioned my love for Kohl's. I recently had a $10 coupon good for anything in the store and a 30% off anything coupon. Ironically, I just bought three shirts there and couldn't think of anything else I needed, but I didn't want the coupons to go to waste. I finally decided to just get some candy. :)

godiva candy
I got BOTH of these for $2.45! I intended to share with my boys, but they each only got a few truffles before I put them in my secret chocolate hiding place. :)

Have y'all gotten any great deals lately? Be sure to check back Friday for my Fall Decor Part 2 where I'll share my front porch, foyer, and dining room. Here's a little sneak peek:

Hope y'all have a great week!

The Ol' Switcheroo

I guess we all like to switch things up from time to time and I'm no different. I love these prints I have in the dining room, but the frames were blending into the wall a little too much. They have really pretty frames, but you just couldn't see them very well. Here's what they looked like before I got out the paintbrush...

I've had this one for years and I still love the picture of flowers.

Here's the other one. I still like this print too, but the frame wasn't showing up.

Here's the "after." I just added some water to white acrylic paint and brushed it on with a foam brush. Then I watered down some brown acrylic paint and lightly brushed it on for a bit of a distressed look.

Not a huge difference, but it was good enough for me. :) At least you can see the frames now. (I added some close up pics of these frames at the bottom of the post.)

I also switched around my wall pocket and another picture in the dining room.

Here's what it looked like before. I had the picture to the left of the window and the wall pocket with some flowers in it to the right. (Sorry...this is the best "before" pic I could find.)

And here it is now. I just switched sides and replaced the flowers in the wall pocket with some hydrangeas. I think I like this better. :)

Here's a close up of one of the frames.

I like how the brown paint brought out the details in the frame.

And here's a close up of the other frame I painted.

I like how the frame kind of stands out from the wall now.

Here's a close up of the wall pocket with the hydrangeas.

And here's a close up of the framed print that's now on the right side of the window. :) I bought this print ages ago at Linens N Things and still love it. :)

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Decor Part 1 Mantel and Living Room

Today I'll be sharing some of my fall decor. I took so many pictures that I'll have to break it all up into three separate posts. Today I'll be sharing my mantel and living room. Be sure to check back for Part 2 with lots of pics of my front porch, foyer, and dining room and then again for Part 3 where I'll share my kitchen. The kitchen is where most of my fall/Halloween decor is, so it deserved a post all its own. :)

I'll mostly just let the pictures speak for themselves. :) All pics enlarge when clicked.

I love to decorate the mantel for different holidays. :)

I thought these leaves would add a pop of fall color.

My cat thinks this raffia is her new toy. :)

Love these little Halloween bears!

raffia pumpkins
I made my two sons go with me to Hob Lob to get these pumpkins a few years ago. I gave them each a coupon and cash to buy a pumpkin with...that way I was able to get all three at the same time and still use a coupon on each one! LOL!

This is probably my most unique pumpkin. Those are little rocks on the side.

Hope y'all enjoyed Part 1 of the tour! Come back soon for Part 2 and 3! Thanks so much for visiting!
