Hi everyone! I thought I'd put together a little post of what's been going on around here. We recently celebrated one of my son's birthdays. Summertime is filled with family birthdays for us. :) Here are a few pics of the decor...
I've gotten a few emails lately asking if I still like my elliptical. The answer is YES!! I talked about my exercise routine HERE. When I first got the elliptical in March, I had it set on a level 4 (it goes from 1-14) and I was doing it for 25 minutes. Now I've bumped it up to a level 9 for 25-30 minutes. I still do 200 crunches with my ab roller too, but instead of doing four sets of 50, I'm now doing two sets of 75 and one set of 50. Does that make sense? :) Here's a pic I shared on Instagram recently...
I burned 374 calories on the elliptical that day and it was all due to Justin Timberlake. ;) You see, I had just made a new workout playlist on my phone with lots of J.T. songs. There's just something about his music that makes you want to workout longer. Lol! Seriously though, I work out much longer when listening to music. Sometimes I'll put on a dvd or watch tv while working out, but I find that I go a lot slower vs. when I listen to music.

We're still feeding the stray cats, Gladys and Rocky. And apparently at night, we're also feeding the opossum population around here. They come at night and eat the leftover cat food.
Sorry about the grainy pic. It was taken through the glass at night with my phone.
And here's how little Holly cat is spending her summer...
She's definitely mastered being lazy. :)
Okay, do y'all remember the fern I showed you back in March? It froze down during the winter and looked like this...
Here's a close up of the teeny tiny
sign of life...
And here it is today...
Not a big change, but it's certainly starting to come back. I spray painted the pot oil rubbed bronze, but it really needs to be replaced.
I finally got my 4th of July decor out yesterday. Hopefully I'll get a post up soon so I can share it with you before the holiday is over. :)
What have y'all been up to this summer? Any big projects going on at your house?

Saw some of the pics from the bday on IG, and I know it was a blast! Love JT too, although I don't work out! I'm re-potting my ferns this year for the first time so hopefully I'll get the same results you do next year. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh I l just love all the festive birthday decor you added to your mantel. So cute! Happy Birthday to your son. My dog would freak out over a possum in our yard! Yes, leaving food outside will attract lots of critters. LOL! Glad that your fern is coming back to life. I probably would've given up on it, but your persaverance paid off!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to your son, Lisa!! I love birthdays! I think it's because I like cake..lol. Your fern looks great!! And I would have totally freaked if I ever saw a possum in our backyard!!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you with the elliptical. That's one machine I never tried at the gym. You are inspiring. I just can't seem to push myself even though I need to. The diet is fine, I just don't have the motivation to exercise or even walk/run. I hope I'm getting something out of just being active each day.
ReplyDeleteOoh...that opossum is ugly, and it's a baby! You have probably heard me say that we have them living under our shed. They are nocturnal so that's why you saw it at night. I can't let my pups out at night. Maybe you should bring the cat food in until morning. When I asked for help on Hometalk as to how to get them out of my yard, I was told by many that once they find a home, they rarely leave! Yuck!!
Happy Birthday to your son! :)

I just found your blog via Cozy Little House...you've been featured! Welcome to the bogging world.
ReplyDeleteI read through some of your posts... and decided I'd leave a comment here on this one. THAT FERN!
Cracked me up. Not in a mean and ugly way...but in a "I totally sympathize with you" kind of way.
I live in Texas-- and I've got some 'we tried to kill it' Ferns-- I conducted an experiment with my 2 ferns --gave one water only, gave the other water and epsom salt... Epsom Salt wins hands down! Now they are both getting it so they will fill in and be more lush and green!
Off to read more of your blog...
so nice to meet you!
Patricia
You make me want to try growing a fern again, but I'm waiting until fall! Ick.....I hate opossums! We had a family of them who took up residence under our deck. They would growl and snarl every time we walked across the deck, and they were VERY stinky! Holly doesn't have a corner on the "laziness" factor! I'm telling you, if she doesn't get her 23 hours of beauty rest, she just cannot function.....lol!
