A Little Shopping Fun

So, I had a little retail therapy last weekend. I went to T.J. Maxx for the first time and loved it! I was able to find these cute tops/tunics with the ruffle bottom...

I know, I know...they're very similar in color, but I just loved them so much, I had to have two. :)

Remember when I told y'all about Walmart's free shipping awhile back? Well, I really needed a hanging shoe rack. My closet floor was covered with tons of shoes. I found this one for about $7 and with free shipping, it worked out perfectly!

Of course, I normally have it hanging on the inside of my closet door, but the lighting isn't that great in there, so for blog purposes only, I snapped a pic of it on the outside of this door. I still have quite a bit of shoes on the closet floor and on shelves, but it sure helped to get the most frequently worn ones in this holder.

It has 24 openings, so it's supposed to hold 12 pair of shoes. Thankfully, most of my flips could both fit into one opening, so I could fit a lot more. And notice there's still room for a pair of Tieks. ;)

I had a request for Nana's Cookies the other day, so I made a batch or two...

Thank goodness they freeze well. :)

We've been celebrating lots of birthdays lately, so cupcakes have also been on the menu...

I had to share this fun gift my son made for a friend recently. She loves flamingos and her party was flamingo themed, so he made this for her...

He ordered the wire from Amazon, drew the flamingo shape on foam board and super glued the wire to it. It has a battery pack at the bottom, so she can turn the light on or off. I thought it was so cute!

I keep meaning to do another "favorite things" post, but never seem to have the time. I don't think I've talked about this mascara before, and I did want to share it before I forget...

It's Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes. I'm on my third tube now and it works so well in our heat and humidity. I can highly recommend it!

I snapped this pic of my backyard the other day. Can you spot my son in his new hammock? Lol. He had to try it out in the backyard before taking it into the wilderness. ;)

He loves that thing and it's actually pretty neat. It packs away into a small pouch so he can easily take it with him. All you need is two branches to secure it and voila...you're suspended in the air enjoying the day. I had no idea how popular they were until he got one. Now I see them everywhere. Seems to be a must-have for the hiking set.

I'm still working on the pergola cover post and should have it up soon. Y'all have a great week!

  1. I love those tops you found at TJ Maxx! I love that store too. I love tops that hang down long like that and the feminine ruffle is so cute. June is our big birthday month. Sounds like yours is July. I think every family has at least one month like that out of the year. I told my husband that our finances take a hit in June and December. Birthdays and holidays are expensive! At least we have 6 months between them. Ha! Glad you were able to use a hammock in your back yard with all of this heat. It has been miserable here. Too hot to even sit out on our covered front porch!

  2. I just recently rediscovered the love of TJMaxx. I had kind of forgotten about it. It's so much fun to go in there and find something you love and then discover that it's under $20!! Thanks for the mascara recommendation. :)

  3. I love tidbit posts! TJMaxx is great with so many fun items! Love the hammock! Have a blessed week! Cindy xo

  4. Nothing better than TJ Maxx for cute tops. Love the hammock for your son. How cool is that!
    Have a great week.

  5. My husband has been eyeing hammocks everywhere we go lately. We don't really have the perfect two tree set up for it, so I have been stalling him, but I have to admit, your son looks pretty comfy!! :)

  6. I love TJ Maxx and Marshall's. Your tops are very cute, I love that color and recently bought something similar. The shoes at TJ are a great bargain, too. I have three of those hanging shoe bags! lol! I wish they made something for boots!

Our family birthdays are scattered but close to holidays so it's busy. The cookies and cupcakes are calling out to me!

Your yard looks so lush and green! I'd lie on that hammock all day! ;-D

  7. Those top are beautiful! Love TJ Maxx but hardly ever get to one! Your yard is lovely.. we bought a couple of hammocks years ago but have never had trees big enough go hang them from! :( And I have to get my husband to try your cookie recipe! xo

    1. Thanks, Kendra! I just loved the little ruffle on those tops. I was surprised our little bottle brush trees were big enough to hold that hammock. I've seen people stack them three high on bigger trees. So funny! Let me know if you try the cookie recipe. It's a favorite of ours. :)

  9. I adore those tops. TJM really does have some cute things! The hammock is a great idea....too many creepy-crawlies on the ground!

    Happy Wednesday!

  10. Love that picture of your pretty back yard! We see hammocks strung up between trees in a park here all the time. I havent gound much at tjmaxx but i do find things at Ross---do yall have Ross? And how long is the free shipping at walmart- do you know? I also love the shoe things----hate jumbles of shoes on the floor!

  11. I like those tops! And I need me some retail therapy too! Have a great week♥

    1. Thanks! I just fell in love with those tops. :) I need to make another trip to TJM soon. Hope you're having a great week!
