It's been way too long since I've done a "Favorite Things" post, so I'm back today to share a few goodies, just in time for the holidays.
Remington Anti-Static Ceramic 1" Flat Iron Model S5500 $14.97 at Walmart. Click HERE to buy it at Walmart.
It has over three thousand 4 1/2 star reviews on Amazon and is a #1 Best Seller. (I ended up buying mine at Walmart) People seem to love it even more than the Chi. Y'all know I have naturally curly hair and I could not believe how well this worked! It has a digital display of the temp and you can adjust it up or down. The default temp is 370. (It goes from 310 - 410 degrees) It says if you have fine, easy to straighten hair, use at the lower settings and if you have curly, hard to straighten hair, use at a higher setting. I keep mine at 390 degrees. Also, my biggest tip is to hold the sections of hair taut while running the iron down it. That really helps to eliminate the frizz.
I've been using these Venus disposable razors for about 15 years now. I don't know if it's the shape, or the fact that they kind of swivel, but it makes it almost impossible to cut yourself.
I used Swiffer dusters years ago, but for some reason, I got lazy and just started using my micro fiber cloths. Well, I saw these the other day and bought them. Let me tell you, I don't know why I ever strayed! This is a starter pack with one handle and two 360 dusters. It makes dusting a snap and the dust particles stay on the Swiffer, so you're not just spreading it around. When I'm done, I give it a little shake (outside) and it's good to go.
These are my go-to lipsticks lately. Revlon Rose Velvet, Rum Raisin, and Pink Truffle...
I'm actually wearing Rose Velvet in my blog pic over there on the right. I find the "Creme" ones stay on much longer than the "sheer" or "pearl." If you look above the number on the tube, it will say either creme, sheer, or pearl.
To go along with the lipsticks, this is my one and only lip liner. It's by Wet n Wild and the color is 666 Brandy Wine. If the "666" is freaking you out, just turn it upside down and pretend it's "999." ;)
This lip liner color goes with every shade of lipstick I have...reds, pinks, mauves, etc. See that Pink Truffle shade I talked about above? You'll notice it's part of the "sheer" collection, which means it's a pretty light color. When I wear it alone, it hardly shows up, but when I apply this liner first, it really makes a difference and you can actually see the lip color. So my tip of the day is, always use a lip liner. :)
I didn't mean for this post to be mostly makeup, but these are the things that are making me happy right now. :) This is the best (in my opinion) eyebrow pencil. It's Wet n Wild and the color is Taupe of the Mornin' How cute is that? This is the pencil I used in my blog pic and you can see how dark my hair and brows are. I know this color seems very light, but somehow it blends perfectly with my dark brows.
Now for some food products. My mom introduced me to these frozen Mary B's biscuits and they are divine! They're very thin and tasty. They're the closest to homemade I've ever had.
And since I talked about my favorite biscuits, I had to mention my favorite rolls (yes, there's a difference~lol!) These Sister Schubert rolls have graced our Thanksgiving table for many years. So good!
I use this to clean my shower and it does a fantastic job. It works so well on the tile, the glass door, and the shower floor. I love that it doesn't have a strong chemical smell.
Oh my word, this next item is so yummy! Blue Bell Hot Chocolate flavor ice cream. And yes, it tastes just like hot chocolate! It's milk chocolate ice cream with miniature marshmallows, dark chocolate flakes, and a marshmallow swirl. The marshmallow swirl is the best part to me. It's like marshmallow cream swirled throughout and since it's frozen, it has a chewy consistency (in a good way) :)
I've talked about this L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte makeup before, but it's worth repeating. Living in the (very hot) south, it's hard to find a makeup that doesn't melt off your face. This stuff has staying power like you wouldn't believe. I've been using it every day for over a year and it's my favorite makeup I've ever tried. Great coverage, staying power, and it won't break the bank. #winner
Oh, and I always use my Beauty Blender (below) to apply my foundation. A lot of you told me you use the cheaper versions of this and I'm definitely going to try one as soon as this one wears out. Places like Target and Walmart as well as my local HEB grocery store all have their own versions of this for around $6.
Beauty Blender Make Up Sponge $20
Y'all...I realized I was using tweezers that were over 30 years old! What?! You see, I "stole" my mom's tweezers when I got married 26 years ago because they worked so well. (maybe a little too well, as I probably over-plucked my eyebrows back then~ha!) Anyway, lately they haven't seemed as sharp (duh) and they had been dropped too many times to count, so I started researching new ones. I remember Oprah talking about the Tweezerman tweezers and if you watch any makeup tutorials on YouTube, you'll see these all the time...
Tweezerman Slant Tweezers $23
They are a bit pricey, but they really do work like a charm and my brows have never looked better. :) P.S. I used a coupon at Ulta and got them a bit cheaper.
And last but not least, look at this cute $9 puffer vest I got online at Walmart...

NINE DOLLARS, y'all!!! I got the cute plaid one above as well as this one...
You just can't beat that price! They were actually $10 when I ordered them last week, but at the time of posting, they're down to just $9.

There are so many things I want to try out on your list!! I'm glad everything is so affordable!
ReplyDeleteWow, you always have the best favorite things lists! Where do you buy the biscuits here in the Houston area? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove this list!! I love the prices you are mentioning instead of a million links to expensive things at Nordstroms like some bloggers do. I have never owned a flat iron so the one you mentioned will have to go on my list. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it when you do this kind of post. I use the dusters all the time and those razors are my favorite also. I need to replace my flat iron, so thank you for the tip. Got to try that new ice cream! LOL Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, one and all, Lisa! I use those razors and Revlon lipstick if my one and only favorite. Wear it all day, every day in some of those colors, too!! Stick with the classics, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteA lot of your favorites are mine too. Love those revlon colors. I like the deeper plums and reds too.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you find those thin biscuits? They look so yummy? Happy Friday.
Hugs,
Kris
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove this sooooo much! Can't wait to try a few!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen! I hope you find a few winners! :)
DeleteThis is a great list Lisa. Thanks so much for sharing, I'll definitely be adding some things to my shopping list.
ReplyDeleteThose are some great product suggestions! Of course, I've loved using the foundation/powder that you recommended. I'll have to give some of those others a try now.
ReplyDeleteI love your favorite things posts! So fun! We like alot of the same things. I do love those Sister Shubert rolls, aren't they so good??!! LOL I'm going lipstick shopping tomorrow, maybe will give those a try. Hope you're having a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou do the legwork for us, Lisa, so thank you. I'm definitely going to look for the lip pencil and the eyebrow pencil. I love something that works!
ReplyDeleteJane
I love it when you do this kind of post, Lisa! I always find out about at least one product that I didn't know about and that might work for me. I use those same razors, but I got mine at Costco, so I have quite a supply....FYI -- body hair grows slower or not at all as you get older! There you go, at least one positive for aging! I like the Wet 'n Wild pencils, too. I line and then fill in with the pencil, so I don't have an actual line and it gives me color all day whether I use lipstick over it or chapstick. I'm definitely going to look for those biscuits when I shop tomorrow. Bacon and eggs is on my menu plan this week and those would be perfect...YUM! Thanks for sharing, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs,
Carol
