Covering Up Those Kitchen Outlets

Hello all! I've been rearranging things in my kitchen and had to come up with some new ways to cover up a few outlets. Y'all know how much I hate cords and outlets, right? Lol!

Here, I'm using the Keurig and my stand mixer to cover up two outlets. Actually, the Keurig is plugged into one, but the machine hides it. I just rolled up the cord for my mixer and stuffed it into the mixing bowl.

The addition of those little cabinet feet still make me smile every time I see them. One of the best $6 purchases ever!

I just discovered how great cutting boards are at covering outlets! We use this one all the time, so I brought it out and propped it up in front of an outlet.

Over here, I'm using the planter with a faux boxwood ball to cover up an outlet.

And this sweet nest printable is covering up the outlet the lamp is plugged into. I was happy to bring out my nesting measuring cups again. I think I've had them stored away since I started decorating for all the holidays back in the fall.

My diy boxwood wreath frame is covering up this outlet that never gets used. If you look closely, you can see the outlet behind it.

And here's one I just can't do anything about...

I've tried to store our toaster in the cabinet, but my boys had a fit since they use it daily. Turns out they were right, so I pulled it back out. :) Speaking of the toaster, have y'all tried the limited edition Chocolate Toaster Strudel? So good!

And can I just say I'm still so thrilled with how our painted and stained kitchen table looks? I can't believe spray paint did such a good job! I'm so happy with the stain we chose for the table top too.

What clever ways do you hide outlets and cords in your home?

  4. Outlets don't really bother me if they match or coordinate with the wall they are on.....maybe it's because I've lived in so many houses that had so few outlets, I truly appreciate that our current home has an abundance. Now cords are another subject. I make little cord covers for as many as possible, using drop cloth fabric or a linen-type fabric that seems to blend in with the walls and floor

  6. Oh- I hate those stupid outlets, too...until I need to use them, that is. I think code here is that there has to be one every 24" on back splashes..So...I have plenty. lol Hope you have a good week. xo Diana

  7. You could paint (or use seam binding on) the cord & plug to the toaster, couldn't you?

    1. Yes! You're right! That's actually a great idea! By the way, I JUST got your comment. I've had major trouble with Blogger lately and had hundreds of comments I knew nothing about. Now I'm trying to play catch up. Just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you. :)

  9. I don't like to look at outlets either, but cords are probably my biggest pet peeve. You did a nice job covering yours. Our toaster stays out all the time too. It's used daily and it's a nice expensive one so I don't mind looking at it. LOL!

  10. Hi Lisa,
I love what you did here! Such a clever idea! At our last house in Seattle,we had a strip under the cabinets, so all our outlets were out of sight! And Oh My, did we have a ton of places to hook up to! I tried to get our electrician to do this at our current house, and he was quite a grumpy technician. So, I have mine out and visible too! Great post, my friend!

  11. These are all such clever ideas, Lisa! We have a dark backsplash and white outlets so they are even more noticeable! I'll do some re-arranging, thanks to you! :) Where did the little cutlery caddy come from? I love it... and so bummed I missed the adorable nest printable! I always love when you share what printables are free right now but I missed downloading this one! (and everyone in our home but Mama would LOVE those strudels!) My husband usually sneaks them (and pop tarts) into the cart when I'm not looking ;) You should see the cool ones we got on our last shopping trip to the US! haha! Have a great rest of the week, Lisa! xo

  13. Great ideas! The outlets really don't bother me but cords??? Drive me wild! :) Wish I had one of those chocolate treats right now. I got rid of my toaster ~ crazy, huh? I don't have a clue "why" it bothered me so much sitting on the counter and I became frustrated taking it in and out of a cabinet so I just donated it. Yes, I'm weird! :)

The table looks gorgeous! I'm glad the spray paint worked so well.
