A Fall Video

Hey there, y'all! I made a little video to show some of my fall decor. Y'all can finally put a voice with this little ol' blog. Ha! And I did get my bangs cut (and love them) and I'm just trying to pin down my son so he can take a decent pic of me to put on here too.

Oh, and P.S. A blue jay did come right up to the window for Holly right after I stopped filming, so the tree of trust is still intact with us. (once you watch the video, you'll understand) :)

Enjoy!

2016 Fall Home Tour

I changed up a few things this year, but for the most part, it's still a neutral base with pops of orange here and there. Enjoy!

A couple of orange print pillow covers along with my cable knit sweater pillows add just the look I was going for.

Each year I bring out that candle holder with the fall leaves. Seems appropriate for the season. ;)

This is my Target dollar spot pumpkin pillow from last year in a crate from Michael's.

I went pretty simple with the mantel.

A wire pumpkin and "Count Your Blessings" sign was all this end table needed.

The foyer got its usual basket of pumpkins. Only this year, I added in a few orange ones.

Simple dining room table centerpiece. Glass hurricane with a white candle and fall leaves.

Probably one of my favorite pumpkin purchases ever. This trio  from Hob Lob a few years ago.

Always fun to decorate the kitchen hutch.

A cute fall printable and my new mug from Walmart. :)

I like how the mug is just orange and not ORANGE. That way, I can use it year round without it feeling too "fall-ish." And for $2.50, I couldn't pass it up.

Please note Holly pawing at a lizard on the outside of the window in the pic below...

Ah...so good to see my beloved velvet pumpkin again. :)

It had just stopped raining when I took these outdoor pics, so the lighting isn't great.

And that's it. If y'all have any questions on anything, feel free to comment below or send me an email. I'm always happy to answer any questions you have. :)

What I'm Loving Right Now

Just a collection of things making me happy right now. :)

First up, the new "MacGyver" series. So good to have George Eads back on screen. Love this action packed show so much.

Are y'all watching "This Is Us?" I look forward to it each week. Such a fun twist for a show. Very creative writing. (and yes, that's Jess from GG all grown up!)

For a good laugh, this one fits the bill. "American Housewife" with Katy Mixon. So hilarious! And how about that pink mixer? Love!

I always record "Live with Kelly" when Anderson Cooper co-hosts. He's so down to earth and funny. I love a guy who can be self deprecating. ;)

And it's that time of year again. Boo Berry has invaded my pantry. We like all three, but Boo is my fav.

And for books. This trio by Kate Borden is perfect for the season. Cozy mysteries at their finest. I love how she describes this quaint little town and all the people in it. Couldn't put them down and now I'm reading them again.

Death of a Tart, Death of a Turkey, and Death of a Trickster by Kate Borden.

My favorite morning routine right now is Texas pecan coffee with a splash of Pumpkin Spice creamer. So good!

Our local news anchor, Dominique Sachse has her own YouTube channel where she shares loads of real life makeup and hair tutorials. I spent a whole afternoon watching these last weekend.

Dominique Sachse makeup recommendations

And because Dominique recommended it, I bought a matte eye shadow palette. (I don't think she recommended this exact one, but this is what I chose and I love it) I was using some with a little sparkle to it, but this is much better for daytime wear.

e.l.f. "Mad for Matte" eyeshadow Palette. $10 at Target

Ah, the joys of laundry. Ha! I recently started using this Arm & Hammer Plus Oxi Clean in Fresh Scent and it smells amazing! It cleans really well too, but the scent is what keeps me buying more.

Also, my son just took a scuba diving class in high school. They had all the tanks and equipment and got to experience being under water for an extended period of time. How neat is that? It was part of his Aquatic Science class. My oldest son also got to do this in his Environmental Science class when he was a senior. They sure didn't have that when I was in high school. Lucky ducks. :)

What are you loving right now?

P.S. My fall home tour post is almost ready and I'll try to publish it later this week.

Just a Bunch of Random Things

I have a bunch of random things to share today. First off, I texted this pic to my boys the other day with the caption "A good southern gentleman always knows the proper way to set a table. Keep this on your phone in case of emergency." Hee hee!

It's true though, you always want to know the proper place for things if you're ever asked to help set a formal table. :)

Have y'all tried this hairspray?

Freeze It Original Freeze

It's the best. Major hold without being sticky.

I'm on the hunt for some winter boots. I want a plain brown knee high boot, but can't seem to find any I like. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

On the subject of shoes, have y'all heard of the shop "Call It Spring?" They have really neat shoes for women and men. I just got my boys these shoes...

They needed something they could wear with khakis for a dressier look, but also with jeans or shorts. These are exactly what we were looking for. Very versatile. Here's the Call It Spring website:

Here's a quick medicine trick from when my boys were little. You know when you're giving your child liquid medicine and you measure it out in that plastic cup it comes with? Well, I would always measure it out, then my kids would drink from that cup, then I would have to wash it really well so the germs wouldn't stick and it would be clean for the next person who took a dose.

Well, then I figured out it was much easier to first measure it out in the cup it comes with (always use the measuring cup that comes with the medicine) then I would pour it into a paper cup to administer it to my kids. That way, they could drink it and throw away the paper cup and I would only have to rinse the measuring cup and it was good to go for the next use.

I still use this trick when we're taking liquid medicine. Actually, that medicine in the pic above is for kids, but it works so well, we all still use it (just in bigger doses) Lol!

And one last thing. Do you ever worry about buying a used car because you're not sure if it has any recalls on it? This website is so useful...

Just click on "vehicle shoppers" at the top and it'll bring you to this page...

From there, click on "search for recalls by VIN." You just put in the VIN (vehicle identification number) to quickly learn if a specific vehicle HAS NOT been repaired as part of a safety recall in the last 15 years. Even if you're not buying a used car, you can put in the VIN of the current car you're driving to find out if there are any recalls you missed.

And that's all the PSA's I've got for today. Ha! Y'all have a good week!

Luke's Diner and Fall Mums

I'm glad y'all liked the pics of the homecoming mums! It was neat to let y'all see what Homecoming looks like in Texas. :)

In other news, this is the text exchange that went on between my older son and me the other day...

He got to campus that morning and discovered they had transformed the campus coffee shop into a Luke's Diner from GG!!!! I was (obviously) so excited!

Netflix sponsored the event. Overnight, they paid to transform about 200 coffee shops all over the U.S. into Luke's Diner for a day. They purchased flannel shirts and baseball caps for the employees to wear, just like Luke does on the show. :) They even had "no cell phones" signs and a Luke's Diner sign hung out front. The menu inside was a replica of the one on the show and they had life size cut outs of Luke! It was so neat!

Netflix will be the only place you can see the new GG episodes on November 25th. They filmed 4 new episodes with all the original cast and I can't wait to binge watch all 4! If you don't have Netflix, you can always get a free 30 day trial to see them, then decide if you want to keep it or not. I bet you'll decide to keep it though. We love being able to stream movies and shows any time we want.

You wouldn't believe how many people showed up to these Luke's Diner Pop-Up shops!

Here's a short news video of the lines to get into one in Studio City...

They also gave out free coffee to the first 250 people in line. It was all held on October 5th, which is the 16th anniversary of the very first GG episode, October 5th, 2000. My son stood in line 25 minutes just to get me this cup (which I treasure)

This was printed on the cup, under the sleeve...

And here's a little pic I shared on IG...

"Pop Tarts and Luke's. Best breakfast ever." If you're a GG fan, you'll understand. ;)

On the garden front, I finally got my hands on some mums last weekend. Walmart had these 4 inch mums for $1!!!  They came in yellow, copper, white and purple. (Pardon the rainy pics. A quick rainstorm blew through this morning.) I'll take more pics once they're blooming and it's dry.

I was outside yesterday morning planting them and it was about 65 degrees and there were even leaves on the ground. It really felt like fall.

See the leaves? Yep, closest to fall we get here in Texas.

I also got out all my Fall decor. I'll be sharing snippets on Instagram @texasdecor and I'll share a full tour on the blog soon.

Here's a sneak peek:

Y'all have a great day!
