Flowers, Po Boys, and Skirts

I needed to replace my patio flowers (it was getting too hot for the snapdragons and impatients) so I made a quick trip to Home Depot and picked up these beauties for only $1.25 each...

Pentas have always done well in our heat and of course, Vincas are a staple in Texas.

Below is a moss rose on the table, but it's not blooming yet.

The miniature bottle brush bushes are starting another bloom cycle...

You can't really see it in the pic below, but the Lantana is still going strong in the front bed. I keep having to trim it back because it blocks the sidewalk.

After a busy day of shopping and planting flowers, I took the easy road and picked up Antone's po-boys for dinner. Have y'all ever had these? The chow chow is my favorite part!

Okay, here's the skirt I mentioned in my last post. These aren't great pics, but I wanted to show a full length pic and a close up. It's from Walmart and comes in lots of patterns and colors and it's only $10.00! My store doesn't carry them, so I had to order online.

It's made of t-shirt material, which is so soft and comfy! It's a maxi skirt, so it's long. I'm 5'7" and it comes to my ankles. In the pic below, you can see how it has a "shirred" waistband.

Once again, I'm having trouble with links to the Walmart website, but if you search "Faded Glory Maxi Skirt with Shirred Waistband" it should come up for you. It's one of their best sellers and I can see why. I love it! You could totally wear flip flops with it or dress it up with flats. Either way, I know you'll love it as much as I do. :)

  1. Your flowers are pretty. Just finished up the herb garden and planted some knockout roses around it. Really want to start a cutting garden. I have two skirts that are similar, can't remember where from. They are so versatile. I wear mine a lot when we travel. Super comfy.

  4. Mmmm ... Antone's!!! Love their tuna and our HEB carries them ... No Antone's shops nearby. That's a great price on bedding plants! Have a nice rest-of-the-weekend!!

  5. Your flowers look great and what a fabulous price! I have no flowers yet, not warm enough here, which is odd. We normally have the a/c on here by now. That skirt is awesome. I have several just like it that I scored at Old Navy a few years ago. I wear them all the time...and no laughing, but I had to Google a po-boy. I have heard the phrase before, but had no idea what it was. Can you tell I'm not a southern gal? ;)

  6. Your flowers are going to be gorgeous. I love the moss roses and I use them at the lake a lot as they are desert plants and can survive heat and dry weather (as when I'm not there and can't water! lol).

We don't have this place for the Po' Boys. I think I'd love it. Nothing better than traveling and trying new things.

I never imagined you to be so tall. I wish I were. My DIL is perhaps a little taller than you and very thin...I envy her! I'm 5'2 and I have never liked it at all!!

  7. Your potted flowers are so petty....I have the same ones on my porch. We don't have Antone's here so no po boys for me :o( Love your new skirt too!
    Have a great week.....

  8. Your flowers are all so pretty. I haven't purchased any flowers yet. I need to do that I guess. We need pinestraw more than flowers though. That will probably be the next thing we do in our yard. I've never had a po boy before. I've heard of them though. They sound good by reading the ingredients on the wrapper. That skirt looks like it would be a favorite to wear! I don't have any maxi skirts or dresses in my closet. That skirt reminds me of one that I had years ago in black. I wore it all the time! Thanks for the recommendation. I'm a big Walmart shopper! You can't beat their prices.

  9. I love the skirt! Got to check my local Walmart. Your flowers look so pretty. I need to start planting some before it gets super hot. That sandwich sounds so good. Can you tell I am hungry? LOL I am just barely getting over a horrible cold and getting my appetite back. :) Take care, Maria

  10. I always get so inspired by your garden posts! I actually just came inside from planting petunias in planters to hang along the fence. Lily also wanted to plant morning glories from seeds so I had to make a trellis out of bamboo sticks so they have something to climb.
That skirt looks very comfy...I have one just like that but I can't remember where its from..I wear it all the time during summer! Only thing is its kinda see through so I have to wear black shorts under unless I want to give everyone a free show lol. Is yours like that?
