My New Favorite Makeup For Summer Humidity

I don't know about you, but it's VERY humid where we live. We've been experiencing triple digit temps with humidity levels reaching 90% or more.

Y'all know I have a predilection for Neutrogena products, and I still do, but with our extreme weather this summer, I was tempted to try something new. As I was watching TV the other day, (I think it was Sharknado, don't judge~lol!) there was a commercial for Loreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24 Hour Foundation. Hmm...this instantly grabbed my attention. A makeup that lasts 24 hours??? I've never worn my makeup that long, but still...that's a big claim they're making. The die was cast...I couldn't wait to try it out!

They also make an Infallible Pro-Matte 16 Hour Powder that I tried out. I figured it was best to try both products together.

BTW, do ya'll know that Walgreens will let you return ANY makeup for ANY reason? Yep, you can bring it home, try it out, and if you don't like the shade, etc. you can return it. This is at ALL Walgreens stores too. (I have to give a shout out to Melissa at 320 Sycamore Blog for this great info.!) Oh, and Walgreens has this very makeup "buy one, get one 50% off" right now. Mine were $13.79 each, but with the sale it would only be around $20 for the foundation AND powder.

So, obviously I bought mine at Walgreens. :) Here's a pic of the foundation...

And powder...

Here's the foundation brush I applied it with...

stipple brush for foundation

It's the Up & Up Complexion brush from Target. My sweet friend (and personal makeup advisor) Selene at Restoration Beauty recommended it on Instagram and as usual, she was spot on! I loved this brush more than words can say! I used it as a stippling brush when applying the Loreal foundation and it worked wonders!

I dotted the foundation on my face, one section at a time (forehead, cheeks, nose, chin) and used the brush to stipple it on. I didn't drag the brush over my skin or use it in a circular motion at all. I literally used it the same way I would stipple paint on a wall. :) It was hard for me to see how it would blend without using a circular motion, but somehow it did. You can google "using a stippling brush for foundation" and see all kinds of videos explaining how to do it.

Here's the other neat thing about this brush. This is what it looked like after I used it four times...

See? Not a trace of foundation remains on the brush! I love that I'm not wasting any foundation AND I don't have to wash this brush as often. :)

The powder comes with a sponge and I applied it using a blotting motion. I just kind of pressed it into my skin.

I have to say, this makeup lived up to its hype. It almost seemed to have an airbrushed quality to it. The coverage was phenomenal and I wore it over 8 hours before I felt the need to blot a little more powder in my T-Zone.

I wore it for about 10 hours total and it really did look just as good at six o'clock at night as it did at eight o'clock in the morning, and that's really saying something when you factor in our heat and humidity. :)

So this makeup gets a big thumbs up from me. I can see it quickly becoming my "summer makeup" or any other time I want my makeup to last extra long.

One more thing...I shared this pic on Instagram last week...

Looks inviting, huh? Well, let me tell you...this was taken on our recent trip to the beach and it was so hot, we saw people being taken by stretcher because of heat exhaustion. The beach is my least favorite place in the world. It's a shame that I live so close to the beach, but can't stand it. :) Don't get me wrong...I love listening to the waves crashing and I adore looking at pictures of the beach, but actually being there is another story. I can't stand the heat, humidity, sand, water, or roller coasters, but my boys love it all. I pretty much took up residence in a Starbucks until everyone was ready to go home. Lol!

I'm not much of an outdoorsy girl here in the Texas heat, but when we're in California, I'm outside all day long. There's nothing quite like that awesome Cali weather. :)

Y'all have a good day and let me know if you try this makeup. It's one of my new favorite things.

  1. that looks like a good foundation. I'm thinking about trying one (since right now I just wear moisturizer and powder). So, I may give this one a try. I usually don't like to wear foundation because it feels like I'm wearing a mask and I always seem to get hot ( my hormones?) So, foundation might make me hotter! But, of the ones that I've tried, I don't like them so maybe this one would be good. I did not know Walgreens had that kind of return policy. That's good to know! I didn't know you didn't like the beach! Whaaaaat??????? I love it as long as there is a good breeze and I can sit under an umbrella. If there wasn't a breeze I couldn't do it. I definitely feel like I'm melting in this heat this summer. I haven't been outside as much because of it either. I've never been to California but have heard they have a dry heat which is much better.

  5. Love your makeup & brush tips. Hate wearing makeup in the summer only to see it melt away in to a grease blob!!! Trying it this week!! Didn't know that about Walgreens!

    1. I think you'll love this makeup! I figure if it can stand up to our Texas heat and humidity, it will do well for anyone. :) Love Walgreens return policy too!

  6. I really appreciate you sharing the items that work for you! I have been so tempted to try items at our local Walgreen's. Didn't realize they have such a great return policy - will definitely try some new foundations soon - always nice to have a local "go to" source for makeup! Appreciate it!

  7. Ooh, I am definitely going to try this make up! And I'm excited to find out that Walgreens will let you return it for any reason because it can be difficult to choose the right color.

  8. That must be so hard living with the extremely high temperatures and humidity. The foundation and powder look really good and the brush looks great also. I wanted to let you know that WalMart, Target and CVS also accept returns on makeup. I did not know this until a couple of years ago when I bought a lipstick that did not work for me and I called WalMart and they said yes they would refund my money. I was so surprised and asked again even if I tried it and they said yes. I wish I would have known that years ago. It would have saved me some money on products that just did not work. I really enjoy when you share beauty products that you like and work for you. I had never heard of these products before and I am going to be looking for them at the store. I hope the rest of your week goes good.

    1. The humidity is terrible here. We're all looking forward to that first cool day which usually comes sometime in October. :) Good to know about Walmart, Target, and CVS! Thanks for sharing that info.! I think more and more stores are starting to realize that obviously we can't try it on at the store, so they're altering their return policies. Yay for that! :)

  9. You know I am going to have to give this make up a try. The weather has been so hot, but I think the humidity is the worse. I had no idea you could return make up. Good to know! I am always worry about trying new things because it is hard for me to find what I really like, so I end up using the same product for years. Great post, Lisa. xxx Maria

  10. I am going to have to try this because my makeup feels like it is literally melting down my face since it has been so hot and humid here!!!! Now I just need an eye liner that won't melt and I'll be set!!! LOL

  11. I haven't read all the comments so forgive me if I'm repeating but Wal-Mart and Target have the same return policy. I have also returned make-up items to Kroger. Not sure if they are "return friendly" everywhere or not. I don't use powder...seems to fight with the wrinkles! :)

I'm with you on the heat, humidity and sand ~ ugh! I must add that I LOVE going to Destin when it's cool/cold here. Walking on the beach, sitting and listening to the wave roll in and seeing the stunning sunrise/sunset is like therapy for me. In this heat? No, thank you! Yes, absolutely perfect weather in CA ~ let's go!

So happy to know about this foundation ~ I will definitely try it!

  12. I'm finding more and more places allowing returns of make up and it surprises me---obviously they cant re-sell it so it must be a "keep the customers happy" policy" Love it!

I think it's great for you, I can only imagine the humidity in Texas. My niece who I was with at the wedding we went to this past weekend (post forthcoming) just moved to Tyler, TX. She is so suffering from the heat and humidity. She showers twice a day and sometimes changes clothes in mid afternoon.

As far as make up, I use Bare Minerals but I have tried liquid make up and I'll take your advice. I have never been very knowledgeable about brushes and how to use them. I had my make up done by a professional before this wedding and she dotted foundation on, blended like you did with a sort of firmer brush and then 'buffed' it in with a soft brush. She said the more I 'buffed' the more natural it would look. Have to look for these brushes.

    Thanks!!!

  13. It's amazing how different our weather is... we never have humidity here in the summertime! It's more a dry heat! It's been super hot and I can't imagine adding humidity to that! I saw the roller coaster pic on your IG the other day and had to chuckle again about the beach being your least favorite place. I am counting down the days (and hours) when I can lounge on the beach with my toes curled into the sand!! I totally understand as I have sisters that are the opposite of me and wouldn't take a beach trip for anything :) Hope your week is going great, friend!

    1. I can't even imagine how nice it is to never have humidity! Lucky you! I love the dry heat of California and Nevada, so I'm sure I'd love it where you live too. :) Oh the beach...let me tell you, I can't stand it! Lol! It's mainly because of the heat and humidity though. It's just not comfortable to be there in the summer. It's not so bad in the fall and winter though. Enjoy your day!

  14. I am stuck on my Mineral stuff and have used it for years. A rut? Me? Yep! lol We don't have the heat you have, but living next to the water we do have the humidity. Not unbearable but bad enough at times.
I do love the beach---I think it the sound that sucks me in...that lap and motion is calming to me. But, if I could sit in a Starbucks and watch the ocean? Perfection!!!! lol
Hope you have a great week, Lisa. xo Diana

  17. I hardly ever wear makeup; like never. If I tried foundation in this Georgia heat it would sweat right off. A day at the beach sounds fun. I miss living closer to the shore.
