A Small Change

Hello everyone! I thought I'd share a small change I made in the foyer and laundry room.

See that basket under the table in the foyer? Well, before we got Holly, it used to house everyone's shoes when they walked in the front door. After we got new carpet and hardwoods, we became those annoying people who make everyone remove their shoes upon entering our home. ;)

However, since Holly arrived, we've been using it to store all her toys. That meant that when we had visitors, they had to just line their shoes up in the foyer somewhere. It's hard to tell in the pic above, but those are some of her toys in there. At the time I took this pic, she had most of her toys spread out all over the living room. :)

I had an extra basket like the ones in the laundry room, so I decided to dedicate it to Holly's toys.

I've also been wanting to make new labels for those baskets. Below are the labels I used to have...

Here's a close up...

I remembered I had these gift tags I got in the dollar section at Michael's.

Here's what they look like. They came with the twine and everything.

So, I made new labels (ignore my terrible penmanship) These two baskets hold my dirty cleaning rags (until I can wash them) and my clean dusters, mop attachments, etc.

Then I added this one for Holly...

Here's a peek inside...

And now the foyer basket can go back to doing its job of holding everyone's shoes when they visit and Holly's toy basket is safely tucked away in the laundry room. :)

Also, Holly used to sneak her toys out of her basket in the middle of the night. She would wake us up chasing little balls with bells in them all around the house. Lol! Now that the basket is up on a high shelf in the laundry room, she can't reach it (yet) ;)

I like it much better this way. I don't know why, but seeing all those cat toys used to just look messy to me. Now I can relax and the world can go on. :)

Have y'all made any changes in your home lately?

  2. I know what you mean. I have a basket of dog toys in my kitchen. But I have to leave it out for him because he "selects" what he wants to play with. So cute! I like your new labels.

  3. I'm loving your new labels! And your penmanship is a thousand times better than mine! I try- I really do, but it just doesn't come natural!
And I had to laugh out loud about your cat waking you up by playing in the middle of the night! That is too funny!! Glad you have the situation under control now with the new placement of her toys :)

  4. Love these tags! I will have to look for some. We also have a basket full of toys for our little dog. The small tags are the perfect choice!

  5. We toss our shoes in the garage. A basket by the front door might be a better option for us. Thanks for sharing, Lisa!

  7. Too funny..... Your idea is great, but Princess Posie would have her nose out of joint for two months if I put her toys away :^) I do keep them picked up (sorta'), but mostly she owns the place and we just get to live there to be the servants :^)
Your tags are GREAT, and everything looks spiffy.
    Blessings to you,
