A New Basket

I love baskets. I use them in my decor all the time. I like how you can use them to store everyday things, but it still looks decorative.

So, I was sitting on my couch the other day watching a movie (I think it was Silver Linings Playbook for about the millionth time) and I happened to look over to the right of my armoire. There was a big empty space there...

See that big space to the right? All of a sudden it really bugged me, so I pulled out the Sunday ads and saw that Michael's had their baskets on sale for 40% off. About 10 minutes later I was standing in the basket aisle trying to decide what to get. :)

I ended up getting this one below...

I liked the size of it and thought it would take up just enough room to fill that spot.

And it did! I didn't want anything too big because I needed to be able to walk back there to open and close the blinds and stuff like that.

For now I decided to put a pillow and my favorite blanket in it. I use that blanket every single day when I'm sitting on the couch watching tv or blogging.

So far, I haven't written anything on the little chalk board. I wasn't sure what to write..."blankets" maybe? or "pillows"...y'all let me know if you have any ideas. If I can't think of anything to write, I might just turn it around and not show the chalkboard.

I'm pretty happy with it. And thank goodness Michael's has their baskets on sale all the time! I hate having to wait for a sale. :)

One more quick thing...my youngest son recently decided he wanted to re-do his room. He wanted to paint his dresser grey, get new curtains, a new comforter, new posters, and remove the shelves on his wall and replace them with a ladder bookshelf. Well, obviously that's not all going to get done at once. We're doing a little bit here and there.

We started by painting his royal blue dresser a nice grey color. BTW, this dresser used to belong to my hubby when he was little. We then used it in our first house in our bedroom, then both my boys used it in their nurseries, and now my youngest son uses it in his room.

It was natural wood color when my hubby was little and when we used it in our first house. Then we painted it white with multi colored knobs for the nurseries. Then I painted it royal blue when my younger son was about 2 years old, to go with his red and blue bedroom.

And here it is now, painted grey. And yes...little Miss Holly cat refused to let me finish putting the knobs back on because she wanted to take a nap in one of the drawers first. :)

So, being the good fur baby mama that I am, I let her snooze for awhile in the bottom drawer before I put the last knob on. :)

I'll show y'all more pics of his room as we re-do it. He's pretty adamant about what he wants, so I don't think I'll have a lot of say so. Lol!

  5. Love your new basket too. I haven't been to Michael's in such a long time. They're kinda out of the way and Hobby Lobby is closer. Have fun redecorating your son's room. I love the dresser painted gray.

    1. Aren't baskets great? I love using them everywhere. I like to have things "contained" in one spot. Makes me feel more organized, I guess. :) I'm DEFINITELY writing "cozy" on the label! Great idea!!

  8. Wow, your son is right on-the-mark "trend-wise" with wanting his dresser painted a light gray! We had one of those traditional & simple dressers for our son & is now being used by his son -- love that!

  9. BTW, congrats to your older son for being very innovative. Does he want to study graphic design? It's a very interesting field.
