Dessert Bar and an Embellished Stocking

Hi everyone! I know Thanksgiving is long over, but I wanted to share a few pics from our dessert bar. :)

Yumm-o!! Everything was super good. My hubby made the apple pie using Martha Stewart's Pate Brisee recipe recommended by my friend Carol. Thanks, Carol! It was the best pie crust I've ever tasted!

I made the Almond Torte and my mom contributed the delicious pumpkin pie. I didn't have a third cake pedestal, so I just used a glass plate on top of an upside down bowl for the pumpkin pie.

I also made Pretzel Hugs. Those are always a hit. You can see how I used a silver bucket to hold the forks and napkins. I tied some fall ribbon around the handle and around the bucket.

Aren't those the sweetest little Thanksgiving dessert plates?

I'm loving my silver cake plate from Target. :)

This is just a simple way to dress up your plain stockings. I don't have a tutorial because I made these years ago, but basically, I just bought those plain red and white stockings. Then I hot glued some Christmas fabric just under the white part of the stocking. I then hot glued some green ribbon over the top and bottom edge of the fabric.  I also wrote our names in glue, then sprinkled red glitter on top.

It was a pretty easy and cheap way to embellish a plain stocking.

One more thing...did y'all notice the little "apple" symbol on the apple pie? My son did that. He used some extra pie crust to make a little apple with a bite out of it. The Apple Store is his happy place. :)

That's all for now. Y'all have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

  2. This dessert bar has my taste buds going! How neat that your hubby can bake. I think that's something that can be so fun to do together. Everything looks great and of course, the pretty cake plates add that oomph!!

I love the stockings! I made something like that for our old dog but I never thought to add ribbon. Very cute! :)

  3. Your dessert bar looks lovely, Lisa! I am so glad that pie crust recipe worked well for you. As much as I love to bake, I always hated making pies because of the crust. That is, until I discovered this recipe -- thanks, Martha!
