Dusting Blinds, Cinnamon Toast, A Mama Bird, Instagram, and Burlap Candles

I think I've already mentioned how much I love to clean. It's weird, I know. :) Even though I enjoy cleaning, there are still a couple of jobs even I don't like. One is scrubbing the shower and the other is dusting the blinds. I can't tell you how much I dislike that one. The last time I dusted them, I tried using my vacuum with one of the attachments. It was so much easier! Any vacuum with an attachment will work. Now, this is nothing new of course, and many of you have probably been doing it this way for years. I used to just use a microfiber cloth and it would take forever, plus the dust seemed to just float around the room and end up on the furniture.

With my attachment, it only took about 5 minutes per window, and it was way easier. I just tilt the blinds up and vacuum them, then tilt them down and vacuum again. It really gets the dust off and you don't have to reach behind the blinds. Tilting them both ways seems to do the trick because the suction on the vacuum is so strong. :)

Here's how I used the attachment

And here's an "action" shot! Ha! The power of the vacuum did a great job of  sucking up all the dust and keeping it contained in the vacuum.

I know these posts are kind of random, but that's just how it is these days. :) I used to have cinnamon toast a lot when I was little. I haven't had it in years, but I fixed some the other day and it was so good! Have you had cinnamon toast lately?

Here's a little trick I use...I place the butter on top of the toaster while the bread is toasting. It helps to soften the butter a little so it's easy to spread. :)

Doesn't it look yummy? And yes, that's a princess plate I'm using. :)

I just had to add this pic of the mama bird in our gutter. She made a nest in there awhile ago and has been fulfilling her mama duties day in and day out. Or is this the daddy bird? I think these are doves? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere the mama and daddy doves take turns sitting on the eggs.

One last thing...I posted this on Instagram (you can follow me @chels70) Tuesday Morning was having a great sale. I got these burlap bee candle holders. The big one was only $5.99 and the small one was only $3.99. What a deal! Sometimes I post good deals I come across on Instagram because it's easier and faster than doing a whole blog post. :) Are y'all on Instagram? I love it! I love that I can share sales with y'all while I'm out shopping. :)

Want to see where I put my new purchases?

I put the small one on an end table in the family room. If you want to see more of my family room, you can click HERE

I put the large one on top of the buffet in my kitchen. To see my kitchen tour, you can click HERE

Here's a closer shot of the large one.
Y'all have a good week!

  1. That's how I clean my blinds too. AND I love to clean too. We had our one year walk through a couple of days ago with the builder. He asked how often I vacuum...when I told him everyday he said he could tell. :) Obsessive but it makes me happy.

Your dove is so sweet. We have lots of them but I haven't seen a nest yet.

  2. Hi Lisa, love your burlap candles. Cinnamon toast is one of my favorites. We j it's melt a little butter in a dish in microwave and brush on toast and then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, yum!

  3. I love cinnamon toast...I'll have to try your little trick to melt the butter next time I make it :o) Love your new goodies too!
I always love watching the little birdies in their nests but we don't have any this year. I think the crazy spring weather we had must have something to do with it?
    Have a great weekend!

  4. Thanks for the blind cleaning tips. I have bamboo and vacuum them too. But I really hate to vacuum, I'd rather push a lawn mower! lol!

Love the candles holder with the burlap. So pretty!

    Have a great weekend! :)

  5. That's the way I clean my blinds too. It is a much easier job that way. In fact, I need to do that again. Mine don't look so great right now. Love your new burlap candle holders! I saw those advertised in their flyer recently. I love Tuesday Morning! It's not far from my house and whenever I go there I see something new. They have the best deals, don't they?!
