Cleaning and Purging

Oh, y'all...I spent about 10 hours the other day cleaning and purging stuff from all over my house. Nothing was safe. Lol! I started with my master closet and filled bag after bag with stuff I no longer needed. I soon moved on to my bathroom cabinets and linen closet. I still had a Mary Kate and Ashley flat iron...I kid you not. Ha! It felt so good to gain some space back.

Then I moved on to the guest bath and cleaned out the cabinets and linen closet in there. Next up was the kitchen junk drawers. Yes, drawers as in plural. I have two. ;) They weren't bad, but did need some straightening up.

Then I tackled the pantry. Oh my...I had two gallons of snow cone syrup that expired in 2014! They were on the top shelf and we hadn't used them in years, but still.

I had to share these funny cat butt magnets my mom gave me...

Do you see them on the right side of the pic above? So funny!

Here's a closer look:

Ha ha!

You wouldn't believe how many things I got rid of out of that pantry.

All in all, I filled about 10 bags with stuff I no longer needed/wanted. And I'm talking those huge 33 gallon lawn and leaf bags. We also donated a whole truck full of stuff to Good Will.

The next morning, I woke up bright and early and moved all the furniture out of the kitchen and dining room (except the big buffet pieces) and cleaned the wood floors. Then the boys got the oil changed in two of our cars, I did 5 loads of laundry, and made the rounds at Target, Walmart, the post office, etc. It was a long but productive day.

It feels so good to have a clean, organized house, don't you think? I'm really enjoying all the new found space too.

P.S. I've been getting a lot of requests lately to do a blog post on my exercise routine and my favorite low calorie snack/meal options. I should have that post up really soon.

Hope y'all have a good day!

  1. Wow girl! You're in a roll. I had a friend of my #1 come deep clean for me on Monday and it feels so good to have it all done. Now I am able to concentrate on organizing and the yard. We've had sooo much rain!!

    1. Oh yes! That is a mini deep fryer that my son bought. When he told me he was going to buy one, I was like..."whatever, dude." But then...then he made deep fried Oreos for us! Oh my goodness...SO GOOD! I've always avoided those at the State Fair because they sounded...well...gross. Lol. But they're not! I couldn't believe how good they were. He used a basic pancake batter to dip them in, then fried them, set them on paper towels and sprinkled them with powdered sugar. So good! They taste like a homemade chocolate chip cookie because the Oreo is kinda melted inside. Yum! He got the fryer at Target and I think it was only about $25? It works so well too and clean up is easy. Nothing like when you fry something on the stovetop and have all the grease and splatters to deal with. Definitely not as healthy as an air fryer, but our taste buds sure have been happy lately. :)

    2. Forgot to mention that no, it's not an air fryer. :) It's the regular kind that uses oil. Sorry about the long story and then I didn't even properly answer your question. I was just too excited about those deep fried Oreos, I guess. Lol!

  5. OMGosh, Lady, I've been going through a "fatigue-slump" requiring an afternoon nap...but I may have two naps today! I've been doing the purge-thing, too, but definitely not in one day. You are the "Energizer Bunny!"

I switched some things on my blog setup and hope it takes care of the issues. Would you try commenting again to see if I fixed the problem....absolutely no hurry. Remember, I'm napping! LOL

    Hugs, Carol

  8. Lisa, I am impressed! And actually motivated to do things. Our youngest daughter finally moved into a house and we were able to send all her stuff with her...ha! Need to rearrange and clean up. I agree with Miss Carol...you are the "Energizer Bunny"! Hey, when you get on a roll, better stick with it. The cat magnets are funny...my former MIL used to say that cats were from Ohio because they had "O's" under their tails.

  9. Lisa - just not much better than a productive day...and a good purge!! I'm actually a bit jealous...ha ha! I recently did a purge of my closet (not quite to a capsule wardrobe state...) and I don't really hold onto much but, after your post, I just want to go get rid of SOMETHING!! :)

Hope you have a great week ahead!
