Barbie Dolls, Holly, and a Pedometer

Hi there!

Can y'all believe it's almost the end of July??? The summer needs to slow down. This mama isn't ready to start getting up at the crack of dawn again. :)

I thought I'd show you a pic I shared on Instagram the other day....

One of my friends asked that we share a pic of something nostalgic from our childhood, so I scooped these up out of the garage so they could have their IG debut. On second thought, maybe I should have at least brushed their hair first. Lol!

I loved that case I had to tote them around in. Do you recognize The Bionic Woman? The skin on her right arm rolled up to reveal her bionics! Then we have Superstar Barbie and last but not least, we have Tuesday Taylor. Her scalp rotated around to reveal either blonde or brunette hair! Did y'all play with any of these when you were little?

Oh Miss Holly...this is what she does every time I go to put clothes in the dryer...

And don't worry, I always check to make sure she's not in there before I start it up. She loves to nap on anything wet. That's weird, right? My son washed his car the other day and put the damp towels on the side of the tub and Holly jumped right up on them and took a very long nap.

Oh, and y'all will be glad to know that Mee-Maw here finally got herself a pedometer! Walmart didn't have the one I talked about awhile back, so I picked this one up (still at Walmart) for a whopping $5! Lol!

It even gives you directions on how to measure your stride length so you can input in into the pedometer to get a more accurate step count.

I set my daily goal of 10,000 steps and you can see with a quick glance how close you are to your goal. In the pic above, I was at 38%, so I still had quite a few steps to go before reaching my goal that day. I've been known to walk in circles around my living room to reach that goal some nights. :)

You can see your progress in steps or in miles, which is nice. I'm starting to get obsessed with how many steps I've taken. For instance, I can tell you that I took 1563 steps on my grocery shopping trip the other day. Ha ha!

I guess that's it for now. Y'all have a great day!

  1. Yes, I was a HUGE Barbie lover when I was a kid. I converted my closet into a Barbie community with the town house and the van parked out front. I had the airplane too. I loved my Barbies. I didn't keep them though. I can't believe you still have yours! I bet they're worth some money now! Too bad you didn't have girls that you could pass them down to. That's so funny that your cat likes to lay on wet clothes. I've never tried a pedometer before. I'm sure I would be very disappointed with how many steps I took on days where I don't leave the house. LOL!

  2. Oh yes, I loved my Barbies when I was a little girl....I think I had that same tote even!!!! I can't believe Holly likes to lay on wet clothes...very odd! Our cat Lucy loves to take the insoles out of my husband's shoes which irks him.....they have a love/hate relationship!!! LOL

  3. Oh how fun! Definitely had one of those cases - and, I also saw one at a consignment antique store this week - how dare they consider it to be an antique!!!! LOL! So much fun to tote around the Barbies and all their accessories. How funny that Holly likes wet fabrics. She's quite a character!

  4. I was one of those deprived girls that didn't have many Barbies. I remember one or two but my mom was into the feminist thing at the time and didn't approve. Ha!!

Seeing Holly in the dryer gives me the heebeejeebies!! You know Sophie loves to lay on top of the dryer when it's hot. I have nightmares of her being inside.

  5. How fun Lisa. I actually had the bionic woman doll and I had barbies and Midge but not the super star barbie. Holly is so cute. Hope she does not go for a spin anytime soon! Have a great day.

  6. How cool that you still have your Barbie's!!! I have to say I was more a 'baby doll' sort of little girl, I had my babies and would 'play house'!! Maybe I was uncoordinated but I really hated to twist those tight clothes on to Barbie's Even when my daughter's had their Barbie's I told them to ask their father to help!!

I need to get a pedometer. I have had a few that have broke. I'm down to the wire with my son's wedding but I will tell you that with all of the trying on dresses and alterations, it's pretty clear I have to get back to the gym. I have zero time for anything right now but I have seen enough in those mirrors to know what's under my loose T shirts!! Ha!

My little dog Layla loves to jump in the basket of warm clothes. I'm always worried she'll climb in the dryer and someone will turn it on so I keep the door closed. She really buries herself so she'd be hard to see.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. I played with my Barbies so much when I was a girl. I saved a few of mine also. Holly is so cute! The pedometer is such a good idea. You are amazing to do 10,000 steps a day! I hope you have a great weekend.

    1. I love that you still have some of your Barbies too! Lots of happy memories. :) I don't always make my goal of 10,000 steps a day, but it sure motivates me to get moving. I can't wait for cooler weather so I can use our neighborhood walking trail. Enjoy your weekend!

  8. I used to have a Pedometer and was very cognizant of the steps daily. I need to get another one so thanks for sharing about this one! I don't want to spend a lot of money on one.

My daughter had several Barbie's...have no clue now which ones. :)

    Enjoy your weekend!

  9. Love your Barbies! My daughter still also has her collection, even the ones she decided to cut their hair. LOL I need to get one of those Pedometers. I am curious how many steps I take daily, All I know is that it must be a "trillion" judging by how tired my legs are when I go to bed. :) Enjoy your weekend! xxx Maria

  10. I have really enjoyed my Fitbit, but now it is starting to not charge fully.....dang it! How do you wear your pedometer, on your waistband? I go to the gym every weekday, so between the elliptical and the treadmill, I usually hit 12,000 steps a day, but that really crashes to all-time lows on the weekend. When we were in Europe, I was reaching 15,000+ steps most days -- good thing, too, because I was really packing the food away....lol! Abby does that same thing! Abby seems to know when I've been drying towels and comes running when she hears me taking them out of the dryer. I have to make her wait for several minutes, because it's just way too hot. Hope you are having a great weekend!
