Do y'all take time for yourself on a regular basis? I think it's really important to take care of ourselves and for me, sometimes that means simply doing nothing at all.
It seems like we're all consumed with things like cleaning, laundry, meal planning, cooking, etc. on a weekly basis. I pretty much have some kind of chores to do every day, Monday through Friday. But...I also have one day a week that I call my "do nothing" days. For me, that's on Tuesday. I LOVE TUESDAYS!!! Ha!
Y'all have no idea how much I look forward to Tuesdays! I don't plan any laundry, errands, cleaning, etc. on those days. Don't get me wrong, I still work out and make dinner on Tuesdays, but for the most part, I just play around all day and let me tell you...it's FANTASTIC!!!
I posted this pic on Instagram recently of what my Tuesdays look like...
As you can see, I have all my "needs" taken care of: my phone, (which was being used to take this pic) a cup of tea, the remote, a good book to read, a cozy throw, and my iPad. :) Most Tuesdays you can find me browsing blogs and IG, watching a movie, or reading.
So tell me, do y'all carve out some "me time" each week? What do you do to unwind and relax?
Oh, and I just had to share this pic of the bald cypress tree in our backyard. I love the beautiful blues and greens in this pic. We have the prettiest blue skies in the Fall.
I also wanted to let you know what our Halloween looked like last night...
Want a closer look???
Nice, right? ;) This is my youngest. He was a zombie survivor. They got to wear their costumes to school yesterday and I'm quite certain the teachers didn't get a lot accomplished with everyone dressed up. Lol! He really is making those "wounds" a little too realistic for my taste. :)
Okay, that's it for now. Hope y'all have a lovely week!

I think Me time for me is the hours I spend looking at blogs. :)
ReplyDeleteI see a future for your son in make up for movies! lol He's good!
ReplyDeleteNo-not much "me time" here. I think I need to change that soon! xo Diana
Yes, I try to carve out "me" time everyday actually. I clean, run errands all week, but take time out for my favorite shows, blog surfing and writing and shopping. I had to laugh when you said Tuesdays were your favorite day of the week. Did you know that my oldest son believes Tuesdays bring him bad luck? He may be right too, because often when things go wrong for him they are on a Tuesday. He was supposed to be born on a Tuesday, but didn't come until Wed. morning! He started boot camp on a Tuesday (and we all know how that worked out)! He may have a point. Glad that it isn't bad for everyone though. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need more me time. Even though I am a stay at home mom, I am always on the go...I guess my Me time is sipping on my tea while I read blogs! Love the costume by the way...I have 2 boys so I get it.

My me time is sort of spread out all over the place..haha! Sometimes it's late at night when everyone's asleep, other times it's when my hubby takes Lily to work with him for a few hours. But I do agree that it's important. I usually watch HGTV, read my favorite blogs, browse through Pinterest or craft :) I like yours! It looks so cozy!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI think everyone needs a little space and time for themselves. Good for you that you carve out Tuesdays. I think your son might have a little movie makeup artist in him. Have a great Sunday.

Good for you! I think we can get crazy if we don't have that time to unwind. I squeeze it in here and there, and actually, a lot of the things I do around the house and the cooking is sort of fulfilling. Except laundry. Ugh!

I think making time for yourself is very important. I enjoy the same things you do like reading blogs, reading books and watching movies or Netflix or Acorn TV. Your son did a great job on his zombie costume and the wound effects. I agree with you that it looks so realistic. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI agree! We could all use some quality "me time." :) I still can't believe how realistic those wounds were! Boys will be boys, I guess. Lol! Hope you have a fantastic week!
DeleteI haven't had a ME time in a while (and you know why), but I know exactly what you mean. Tell your son he did an awesome job with his look!
ReplyDeleteGood for you Lisa for setting time aside for yourself! I can just imagine how nice those Tuesdays are!! I love Saturday mornings and now that winter is coming, they will get even lazier ;) That tree is so gorgeous in your yard... and what a clear blue sky--- my favorite! Have a great week, friend!

Thanks, Kendra! Yes, Tuesdays are the best!! :) I really love that tree in our backyard. I just wish the hurricane hadn't lopped off the top 10 feet of it a few years ago. :) Hope you enjoy your day!
DeleteGood for you!! I think everyone should do this. I've always, always had to have this time. When my kids were small and then when I was working, I'd stay up later than everyone else just for quiet time. Then, with 2 in college and 1 living away from home, I designated an evening that *no one* could be at home. My daughter was working PT and dating so that was not a problem. :)
ReplyDeleteYour son did an incredible job with his "art" on his body! So realistic...maybe too much? LOL
Absolutely love that tree ~ such a treasure.
Enjoy your day!

Good for you for taking well deserved time for yourself! I don't have a "scheduled" me time, but sometimes I admittedly hand over the babe as soon as my hubs walks through the door and weather permitting, I will then go outside a piddle around. Hope your enjoying your Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteLol! I remember days where I would immediately hand over the boys to my hubby the SECOND he walked in the door! Ha! Hey, you do what ya gotta do sometimes. :)
DeleteLisa, that's very good advice!!! I love this post! You're totally right we need a time to just relax and take care of ourselves! Life's too short to always be running around and stressing over things. Ok, for the New Year, I will carve out some time out of my week to slow down. Hopefully, my ADHD personality will accommodate this new goal! Thanks so much my dear friend! Hey, your son's make-up was way too real looking! hmmm. a future in Hollywood?
ReplyDeleteToodles,

Thanks, Janine! I really think it's important for all of us to have that time to ourselves. It was much harder to do when the boys were little, but now I'm finding that even little chunks of quiet time sprinkled in here and there can do wonders! Hope you have a wonderful day!!
DeleteI think you brought up a very valuable concept, Lisa. It's a much harder idea to follow when you're younger and have small children, but I think you can still get in some "me-time,: even if it's only while they are napping. It's all part of the concept I heard many years ago -- "If you don't take care of yourself, how can you expect to take very good care of others?" As I've gotten older and retired, it's actually a bit more difficult to take that time for myself. Time becomes a commodity that is very precious and yet seems to be passing by so very quickly. I have to spread my chores out over the week, because I can no longer clean my entire house in 2-3 hours; so I have something scheduled every day (M-F) in the mornings, but try to keep the afternoons free to do whatever I want. Yes, it's very important to have that time!
