Hello everyone! Do y'all know about the catalog called "Through The Country Door?" It's one of my new favorite things. Here's a link to their online site:
Through The Country Door
One of my IG friends was talking about it and I just had to stop right then and there and order a free catalog. Their prices seem to be pretty reasonable and they have lots of fun categories...Home Decor, Furniture, Seasonal, Gifts, Bed and Bath, etc. Let me know if you've ordered from them before. I can't believe I just now found out about it. :)
Now for my second favorite thing. My HEB grocery store carries this Orange Spice tea.
I'm sure other grocery stores carry their own version too. It's really good and smells divine. I spent the other afternoon sipping it while browsing through some catalogs and magazines. And of course I had to have a few tea biscuits with it. :)
Now on to the garden. I was puttering around in the backyard the other day and decided to take a few pics to share with y'all. Even though it's technically fall, I still have a few things blooming, and of course we're still mowing the grass weekly. And when I say "we" I mean my hubby and two sons. ;)

These zinnias were grown from seed. It only took about three weeks for them to get this tall. I also added a couple of fall pics to one of the pots.
This Lantana pretty much just sat there all summer and didn't hardly bloom at all. Now all of a sudden, it's taken over this bed and decided to start blooming. I think it did the same thing last year.
The Blue Plumbago keeps growing up into the knock out rose.
Speaking of the knock outs, they're still doing pretty well. Getting a little scraggly, but still have a few blooms.
Okay, time for another fern update! Y'all might remember this sad looking pic below. This is what my fern looked like in March (after our cold winter)...
And just look at her now!
I really need to remember to bring her inside or at least cover her up if we get a freeze this year. :)
I planted a couple of Gomphrena flowers in my window box. I'm not sure how long they'll last now that it's fall, but they sure are pretty.
Below is a close up of the Blue Plumbago...
and a close up of the Bottle Brush...
That's it for now! How are your gardens doing? Are you getting ready to batten down the hatches in preparation for Winter?
~Lisa
Your backyard looks nice, Lisa. Still blooming -everything is pretty much gone here. I have not done clean up yet- and probably won't until the end of October now.
ReplyDeleteI get that Country Door catalog, too, but I have never ordered from it. I like it for the ideas though.
Hope you have a great weekend- xo Diana
Gosh it still looks like summer at your house! We don't have any summer flowers blooming right now. But, we are still mowing the grass. I've received that catalog before in the mail and flipped through it, but have never bought anything. It does look good though! I've had orange spice tea before and agree that it's very good. I think I bought a different brand. I love hot tea when I have a cold. It helps my throat feel better and the steam opens up my nose. That's about the only time I drink hot tea.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa~ What a wonderful post! I feel like I got to hang out with you in your garden!!! I also, saw a plant that we have in our yard and I didn't know the name of it, the Blue Plumbago. So, thanks for naming all your plants! I love your garden and all your wonderful flowers!!! Oh yeah, I'll have to find that orange spice tea, I do love a yummy tea! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Janine! So neat that you have blue plumbago too!! It's such a prolific bloomer. I had to move mine around a few times before I found a spot it was happy in, but now it's one of my best performers. :) I love that we're both tea fanatics! Spiced tea is one of my favorites this time of year. Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteI always love all your garden pictures! Very beautifully landscaped! All your flowers and plants still look great! What's the weather like? We're barely getting into the high 70's but it looks like we're going back to the 80's again...ugh!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of that catalog either...thanks for sharing!!
Hi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI have gotten the country door catalog and have ordered from them. They are a great company and have some unique things. I love to see your garden. The orange spice tea sounds yummy. Have a great week end.

Lisa, I haven't heard of that catalog either so you aren't the last! :) Thanks for sharing. I love, love your yard and all the plants. I have to say that the weather in Houston is great for plants! My Dad and step-mother lived there for eons and always had such a beautiful yard.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your tea!

What a pretty backyard! Your fern sure sprang back to life. Wow! Our winter kills everything. Our ground gets frozen solid down 5-8 feet. That's why we're hanging onto fall for dear life. Lol
ReplyDeleteYour yard is beautiful Lisa! I had to have a little laugh when you said "IF it freezes this year". I can't imagine! Our winters are mild compared to other parts of Canada but we'll still get our share of snow and ice! Those big tall bushes are so beautiful!!

Thanks, Kendra! Yep, it's not unusual for us to stay well above freezing the entire winter. Lol! I was just telling someone else that if we happen to drop below freezing, the whole city pretty much shuts down. We're wimps when it comes to cold temps! I really do wish we'd get a little snow though. My boys have only seen a dusting of snow a couple of times in their lives. :)
DeleteI have to see if I can get that catalog...it looks good! And so does your yard! I'm just bringing in things that can't survive below zero...planters, pots and statues. it;s getting colder by the day. I know this is great time for you Texans temp wise...enjoy!!! :)

Your yard looks so pretty, Lisa. I am so jealous! :) Ours looks like a battle zone since my husband started to build the deck. I can't wait to see it all finished. I keep telling myself it will all be worth it in the end, but starting to have my doubts. LOL Enjoy your beautiful outdoor space. Hugs, Maria
ReplyDeleteI used to receive that catalog but I guess I fell off their mailing list because I haven't recieved it for a while?!?! Your garden is so beautiful....I can't beleive all the blooms you still have!!! Your fern really made a come back and looks so pretty too!!!
ReplyDelete~Des
What a beautiful yard.
ReplyDeleteYour lucky to still have a garden, ours is pretty much nada already with the cool weather outside!
ReplyDeleteI love it we you share garden pics! I planted some lantana during the late summer and they really exploded and are still going strong, as are my azaleas and some other unknown flowers that I have no idea what they are! I know they won't last much longer though. We will probably have one good freeze that will kill them all and then it will be in the 80s again. Never fails!! Hope you're having a great day!
ReplyDeleteAww...thanks, Luisa! We had a ton of Lantana at our old house and the yellow was always the most prolific bloomer. I love how hardy it is. Our days go back and forth between hot and cool too. Wish for once it would get cold and STAY cold. :)
