Prayer Request For My Nephew

Can I ask a favor of y'all? Could you please say a prayer for my nephew Ben? He's 12 years old and has had a migraine headache for FOUR weeks. He's already missed a month of school because of it. He was even in the hospital for a couple of days while they gave him some meds through an IV and it didn't really help with the pain. He's had an MRI and it didn't show anything wrong. They're really at a loss as to what's causing the migraine. He's pretty sensitive to light right now too.

We're looking for any suggestions on how we can help Ben. If you've had migraines, or had a child that dealt with them, could you please leave a comment and share any info. on what helped with the pain? You can also email me at texasdecor88@gmail.com. I think his parents are pretty much willing to try anything at this point.

Thank you so much! We really appreciate all your prayers!

~Lisa

  1. Oh I'm so sorry to hear that! I will definitely say a prayer for him. My SIL has had those in the past. She now drinks caffeine every morning to keep them at bay. She swears by it! I have never had one but have heard (and seen) how dibilitating they can be. I hope he gets better soon. Poor guy! He's the same age as my youngest son!

  2. Oh my gosh, that's terrible! Is he on any medication that could be causing it? That's such a silly question but you never know. Maybe it's hormone related at his age. I sure hope they figure it out. Praying!

  3. Oh- I am praying for Ben, Lisa. We talked about this before and I shared my story. I am so sorry. Has he been tested for food allergies? Allergies to something in the house? Any mold in the house or new carpeting or flooring? Those are all triggers...as is some perfumes and scents. Let us know how he is doing. xo Diana

  10. I've been praying for him today. I can't imagine being in pain for so long and at such a young age. I recently read a blog post which intrigued me. It may be worth a try. http://unskinnyboppy.com/2014/03/time-essential-oils-stopped-husbands-migraines/

  11. So sorry for little Ben, will do so Lisa dear. That's tricky, if he's seen a specialist sometimes a second opinion on another one doesn't hurt. It's hard for a young man like him to suffer so much...

  12. All I can say is that I had it very bad and severe when I was young, but slowly it tapered off and now it happens something like once a year (and that too very mild)
If its persisting for a month then maybe change of diet may help (I presume)

  13. Sending prayers your way! Has he been seen by a neurologist? Sounds like pseudotumor cerebri: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pseudotumor-cerebri/basics/definition/con-20028792

  16. Good morning, I'm sorry to hear this little guy is suffering with those awful headaches! Our pastor's wife gets migraines frequently and she drinks Coke when she gets the headache. She says the caffeine helps her with the headaches. Might be worth a try for your nephew.

    1. Thank you, Mary. I think you might be on to something because several other people have also mentioned drinking Coke when they feel a migraine coming on. That's good advice. I'll let them know about it. Thank you so much for commenting! :)
