Using Dollar Store Bins in a Hutch

My son has a desk in his room with a hutch on top. The hutch has several little cubbies that my son likes to store things in. It was getting out of hand and I was having a hard time dusting his hutch because of all the little things he had in there. I hated having to move a thousand things just to dust under them. :) I saw these blue plastic bins at Dollar Tree, so I bought several and brought them home.

Here they are in his hutch. Now his things can stay contained inside these bins. I love how easy it is to dust now. I just pick up the whole bin, dust under it, and put it back.

Now, it may not look like there's much in these now, but that's just because I recently enacted a "forced cleanout" of them. :)

Who doesn't have a pet rock and harmonica in their room??

I'm not even sure what this is. I think it's some kind of GPS thingy he uses when Geocaching. And that's a ball he made using a 3-D printer. You know...important "guy" stuff. :)

Here's how they look from the side. They actually hold a lot.

Here's another look. Nice and tidy!
My Dollar Tree had these in several sizes. I think they also had them in purple, pink, green and red. I'm happy with these and you can't beat the price!

  1. I just added Dollar Tree to my list of things to do earlier today. Need bins to hold make up and assorted items in the kitchen. I used to find the best things there for my classroom.

  3. These are really cute bins, I don't think I've ever seen them. They are perfect for your boy's room. Mine had a thing for baseball cards...everywhere!
