Cake Balls Recipe

I love cake balls! Believe it or not, I just discovered them a few years ago. They are so simple to make and oh so good! What I love about this recipe is that you can use ANY flavor candy coating, ANY flavor frosting, and ANY flavor cake mix. Just use whatever sounds good to you. :)

Here's what I used: Chocolate Coating, Cream Cheese Frosting, and a White Cake Mix . I just baked the cake as directed in a 9x13 pan. I let it cool, then crumbled it up into a bowl. Then I added the entire jar of frosting and mixed it all up.

Here's what it looked like after I mixed the crumbled cake and frosting. I covered it and put it in the fridge for about an hour.

Then I used a cookie scooper and placed the balls on a wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Look how many it made! After I had all of them on a cookie sheet, I placed the cookie sheets in the freezer for about 30 minutes.

I melted the chocolate in the microwave using the instructions on the bag. Then I took out one cookie sheet at a time and used a fork to dip the balls into the chocolate. As you can see, I wasn't very neat about it. :) You can always trim the excess chocolate later as you can see in the pic below.

And here they are!

Don't they look good? I put mine in a tin in the freezer so they would keep longer. They only take a few minutes to thaw. Have you ever made cake balls?

P.S. How and where do you store them after you dip them in the coating?

  3. Look great! I've done them before and always have such a mess with the candy coating. :) My grands love the ones made with Oreos most of all. Not too spoiled, are they?
