Thanksgiving, Moving and Some Black Friday Deals

No, we're not moving, but we did help Dylan move into his new apartment. You probably remember me talking about how he landed his dream job HERE. After that, things moved pretty quickly. We looked at apartments one weekend, then a week later, he started his new job, then the next week we moved him into his new place. That's pretty much why I haven't been on here lately. It's a lot of work to move one of your kids out and into their own place. All fun stuff (like furniture shopping) but tiring just the same. :) Because of all this, I just can't seem to keep up with the blog as much as Instagram. I share a lot more on there @texasdecor. It's just faster and more convenient.

But I did want to get on here and share some pics, so here we go...

First up, some Black Friday deals (on Saturday~lol) I had a very successful shopping trip today! I got the last tree collar at Michael's for only $16! A cute basket for the coffee table to hold the remote and coasters (I'm using a Christmas basket now and the tray I was using is now in the guest room, hiding the router) It's like musical decor around here.

You get a sneak peek at my new snowball garland too!

I also got some cinnamon scented pinecones for the foyer basket, fall plates and napkins on clearance for $1, Oprah's Favorite Things issue (can't wait to enjoy that with a cup of coffee later this week!) Then I picked up a few nights worth of Meal Simple dinners from HEB.

My simple Thanksgiving tablescape...

I always like to share my tablescapes on here so I can look back in the years to come to get ideas.

Every time we visit Dylan, we HAVE to stop at Buc-ee's because they have real kolaches. This Czech girl knows her kolaches, y'all. And they MUST have crumblies on top to be considered real. ;)

And so what if a chewy pecan praline and cup of coffee also landed in my hands. Not my fault. And P.S. I love Dylan's granite counters! His floors are a nice grey wood too.

So since Dylan moved out, we're turning his room into a guest room. Here's a little sneak peek...

Obviously I'm going with a pink girly theme in here, ha!

Love the detail on the shams and the polka dot pillowcases...

I'm loving the gold dots and flecks on these throws...

These throws are so soft too! Every guest room needs a couple of soft throws, am I right?

But before we get too far, I need to fill all the holes in the walls from the NASCAR/Formula 1 "decor" and then slap on a fresh coat of paint...

My all time favorite wall paint is SW Duration in Matte finish. It's what we have in our entire house. And P.S. all SW paints and stains are on sale 30% off until November 30! (Go to their website to get the coupon)

Scored this cute mirror to hang above the dresser in the guest room...

And that's about it for now. I'll be sure and share the room when it's all finished. I can't wait to see it all pulled together!

Around The House

A little of this and a little of that today.

This is my favorite time of year, weather wise. Everything is still green, but it's cool enough to spend time outdoors.

A couple of funny Finn pics to make you smile...

A big stretch...

He literally slept like this for a long time, with his legs hanging over the bed...

I think he's twice the size of Holly now.

I was so happy to find these holiday counter sprays again this year!

Mrs. Meyer's Orange Clove and Peppermint Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner.

I know...you're thinking "Hey Lisa, didn't you stop using Mrs. Meyer's hand soap because it's not technically antibacterial?" Well, yes. But...that only applies to the hand soap. I never said I would stop using the counter spray. ;) I'm still using Softsoap Antibacterial liquid hand soap in the bathrooms and kitchen for hand washing purposes. I also use it to clean my countertops twice a week. But I think it's still okay to use this spray, especially since we never put food directly on the counters. And it smells amazing! It makes my whole kitchen smell good. (click HERE to see my revised cleaning routine if you're confused by all this talk~ha!)

The softsoap dispensers aren't that cute, so I did buy a new one for the kitchen...

It's from World Market and matches my dish soap dispenser. But truth be told, I pour out the stuff that it comes with and immediately refill it with Dawn for dish soap and Softsoap antibacterial for the hand soap. I guess I need to buy one for the bathrooms too.

Forgot to mention in my New Tea Kettle Post that I also snagged these cute MacKenzie-Childs napkins on clearance for $2!

I shared this on IG earlier. This is the best holiday coffee I've ever had! It's "Christmas Kiss" from HEB and it tastes like a chocolate covered cherry. If you're not local, you can order it online at heb.com

Speaking of HEB, this is my new favorite salad...

Spinach, feta, glazed pecans, sun dried pears, cranberries and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Yum!

Thanks for stopping by!

Tea Kettles, Mums and Boxes

My blogging is so sporadic lately. Sorry about that. It's just a really busy time right now with Dylan moving out, the holidays upon us and the usual weekly chores.

However, I did want to pop in and share a few things with you today. I've been looking for a new tea kettle for over a year now. I went from wanting a copper one, to a yellow one, then green, then back to copper. But this whole time, I kept thinking back to a particular one that would pop up in my IG feed or on blogs over the years. Every time I saw it, it would catch my eye. I figured that if I still wanted it after all this time, I needed to just take the leap and purchase it. So that's exactly what I did. It's the MacKenzie Childs tea kettle in Courtly Check...

I love the black and white!

Isn't she pretty? I love how the carved red cinnabar bead on the lid matches the red medallions on the handles of all my KitchenAid appliances.

She sits up there all day, ruling the roost. :) She's the new star of my kitchen, but don't tell Francie the Fancy Fridge...

Wouldn't want her to get jealous, ya know. ;)

In other news, I finally replaced the summer flowers on my patio. I can't ever decide if I want pansies or mums. I love mums, but after they bloom, there's this long cycle before they bloom again. But the thought of not buying mums in the fall was a little depressing. So I got the best of both worlds and bought mostly pansies and just one mum.

Can you see the red and white begonias in the flower bed, behind the pots? Most of them are about 10 years old. They just bloom and bloom and bloom. Even with our snow (twice!) last year, they still came back around in the spring and did their thing all summer long.

So as y'all know, Dylan is getting ready to move into his first apartment. He's been buying everything he can think of to furnish it properly. I'm impressed with his taste, but this is what my house looks like lately...

And this isn't even close to all of it. I got 4 deliveries Friday alone! He's purchased a queen size bed, mattress, sheets, a dresser, two nightstands, a coffee table, three bar stools, lamps, a Keurig, shower curtains, plates, glassware, silverware...the list goes on and on and on. Now he's looking at rugs and a sectional. Every time I turn around, we're getting a delivery from Amazon, Target, IKEA, etc. So exciting though!

One more thing. Remember when I showed you this jack-o-lantern on my welcome sign in my FALL HOME TOUR

I mentioned I was going to replace it with the cornucopia after Halloween. But then I remembered the set also came with these fall leaves, so I put them up instead. I totally forgot these were in there!

I still might put the cornucopia up on Thanksgiving day, since it's kinda cute.

I guess that's all for now. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!
