IG Funny Time

A few funnies to make you smile today...

Poor pup!

So true, right? There are so many products geared toward very specific things with women. Lol!

Hee hee! Totally looks like a concert!

This is like me, but with my sunglasses. I have a pair in each car, my purse, etc.

 I totally need this mug!

Happy day, y'all!

Hunter For Target Haul

Did y'all get anything from the Hunter sale at Target?

I was most excited about the boots for $40, but as you all probably now know, they were delayed and then pulled.

When they were delayed, it made me start second guessing them anyway. I just couldn't figure out how they could sell Hunter boots for only $40 when the real ones cost around $150. Something had to be different, right? Well, apparently something was different, because here's what Hunter said on Twitter when people questioned the low price...

"Target won't sell Hunter Original boots. Our boots are handcrafted from natural rubber following an intricate process. The ones designed in partnership with Target are not produced the same traditional way." That right there told me they wouldn't be the same quality as my real Hunters.

Then, like I said, they were pulled completely. Here's what Target had to say about that...

"After thorough evaluation, we've decided not to make this item available. We're very sorry, but the production simply didn't meet our standards, Hunter's standards or the standards we want guests to have when they shop at Target." I have to give kudos to Target for being honest and not selling something they weren't confident in. It would have been much worse if they did sell them, only to have the quality be subpar and be inundated with complaints.

I did however, get some other neat items which I'll share with you today.

I got the over sized tote bag, duffle bag, bum bag, compact umbrella, slide sandals, large pouch, small pouch, hang light and long lanyard.

Here's the over sized tote bag...

It's very roomy, has comfortable handles and is well made.

The duffle bag...

Again, very well made, roomy and I love the choice of handles or shoulder strap.

The large pouch in orange and the small pouch in green...

The compact umbrella and slide sandals...

The slides are comfy and (I think) waterproof. They'll be great for gardening in.

The bum bag (which is the only item I don't know if I'll ever use, but couldn't resist, lol) the long lanyard and the hang light.

The hang light is so neat. It has a button on the back and has different settings...dim white light (shown) bright white, flashing red light, and solid red light.

Now who's going to take me on a fancy trip so I can use all these travel items??? Anyone??? Hee hee!

A Mishmash of Things

Not a lot going on, but I did want to pop in and say hello. :)

Oh, these two...

We weighed them the other day and they are both exactly 11.4 lbs!

Holly still isn't fond of her big sister status. She continually stays far away from Finn...but as you can see, he's still trying to make her love him. Lol!

Here he is in deep thought...

And here's Miss Holly spying on the neighbors through the blinds. I should call her Mrs. Kravitz. And P.S. doesn't she look like a fish in this pic?

Such a prim and proper lady with her feet together like that.

We had a little get together the other day and I made some vegan chocolate chip cookies so Logan would have something sweet to eat.

I made this cake too...

So good!

Me making a mess while baking...

I used THIS chocolate buttercream frosting recipe. Click HERE for the vanilla version. It is my FAVORITE buttercream frosting, ever! Only took about 10 minutes to make, start to finish and tastes delicious! My favorite part is that you mix up the powdered sugar in the mixer first, instead of having to sift it. Also, mixing the powdered sugar with the cocoa powder in the mixer helps to incorporate it in such a good way. This recipe is perfect for frosting a cake or piping it onto cupcakes. It's the perfect consistency. I did reduce the cocoa powder to 1/2 cup because I'm not sure everyone likes it as chocolaty as me. :) Also, it says 1-2 Tablespoons milk and I used one and a half. Just for comparison, I used 2% milk.

Seriously, I'll never used canned frosting again. I mean, how could I when this tastes so much better and is SO easy! I used the "soften" button on my microwave to soften the butter, so I didn't even have to wait for that. Try this and let me know what you think. Yum!

Hope y'all have a great week!

Lantana Update and $4 Solar Pathway Lights

Remember when I showed that pic of the Lantana in the front yard, right after we pruned it? Here's that pic again to refresh your memory...

March 7th

I promised to post another pic a month later to show you how much it's grown. So here we are a month later and just look at it now...

April 7th

See how quickly it comes back after a spring pruning? Here's an overhead shot...

It's already got some blooms on it. I'll update you throughout the summer. It's such a hardy plant.

You might have noticed we added some solar pathway lights...

Here they are in action after dark...

They actually put off quite a bit of light...

We love them! They were on sale for $4 each (regular price is only $5) at Target and they've added so much to our front yard landscaping. They're the Project 64 brand LED solar pathway lights.

Hope y'all have a great day!

Coffee Coffee Coffee and Other Walmart Finds

I was getting tired of our usual K-cups and I kept hearing how good the Walmart ones were, so we gave them a try and loved them!

I picked up the Great Value "House Blend" flavor and we all liked it. So I decided to go back and buy several other flavors, then choose our favorites. All these 12 count boxes were about $3.80 each.

Columbian, French Vanilla, Donut Shop, Breakfast Blend and French Roast. They have more flavors too...triple chocolate, blonde roast, caramel cappuccino, etc.

These were our favorites. French Roast and House Blend. (Breakfast blend was really good too) Since these were our favorites, I went back and bought the big 48 count boxes...

These 48 count boxes were about $14 each. That's only .29¢ per cup!!! These three boxes (144 pods) should last the three coffee drinkers in the house about a month.

While I was at Walmart picking up our month's supply of coffee, I couldn't resist these shoes. I love a slip on that still has laces that you don't actually have to tie. There are little knots at the ends of the laces that keep them from coming undone. These are very comfy. I wouldn't wear them on the treadmill or anything, but for everyday running around, they're great. And at only $10, you can't go wrong. :)

time and tru slip ons
These are the Time and Tru brand. They had a lot of cute styles to choose from.

Do any of you know anything about gel insoles for shoes? Or any kind of insoles? I keep hearing how great they are, but don't know the first thing about them. I'm always afraid my shoes wouldn't fit right with the insoles. Sometimes you can remove the original insoles to replace them, but sometimes they can't be removed. Let me know if you use them and what brands/kinds are your favorites.

The last Walmart finds I have for you are these earrings I got for only $2.88!

walmart earrings $2.88

Here's a side pic of the one on the right. See how it's gold, but has rounded glass over it? Love that!

That's all for now. Hope y'all have a great day!

$5 Letter Board

I had to pop in really quickly to share this awesome deal at Target...

The sign says it all...this letter board was in the DOLLAR SECTION at Target for only $5! It came with the letters, but I also bought two extra packs of letters for $1 each. Such a good deal, right?! They came in pink and blue, but my store only had pink. And the extra letters came in white and black. They're going fast, so get one while you can.

They also had lots of these mini cake stands for $1...

My store had the mini ones and the full size in several colors.

I shared this little gem on Insta the other day. Happy Easter from my brother and me, circa 1972-ish. Lol!

I mean, where do I start? Those shorts, the over-the-knee socks, my fancy purse and gloves, or that groovy wallpaper??? Fun times, for sure. :)

I'll be sharing some Walmart deals I got this weekend, so stay tuned...

Crossbody Bag Love and Sneakers

I'm brand new to the whole crossbody bag thing and I gotta tell ya...I'm loving it! If Jim Halpert can pull it off, then so can I, right? Lol! Here's the deal...I carry my regular purse everywhere and I keep everything in it. You know how sometimes on talk shows or game shows, they play that game where they ask the audience if they have a random item in their purse and they win a prize if they have it? Yep, I'd win Every. Single. Time. Dental floss? Yep. A measuring tape? Yep. Tic Tacs? Yep. Nail clippers? Yep. Safety pin? What size? Because I have three. You get the picture. :)

But sometimes I don't need to take all that stuff with me. I was thinking the other day about when I would do carline drop off and pick up when my boys were little. I would only grab my wallet, phone and keys when I went out the door. So freeing! I realized I could get away with just those three things on lots of other outings too, so a smaller purse was in order. So many times, I just run to the store or the garden center very quickly. I'm pretty sure I can get by without my floss, extra makeup and hair ties on those trips. ;)

So I bought this little cross body bag...

It has this pocket in the back...

And this one in the front...

And quite a bit of room inside too...

My iPhone 7 Plus fits in that inside pocket for reference.

The best part is I'm hands free when shopping. I'm not trying to keep a purse from falling off my shoulder and if I step away from the cart, I'm not worried about leaving my purse unattended because it goes with me. Lol! I love the cute pattern and it was only $14 at Walmart. It holds my wallet, phone and keys and still has a little room for a few extras. This would also be perfect for traveling. I usually use a small backpack instead of my purse when traveling, but this would work just as well. It was great to have at the garden center when I was traipsing around in between plants, trying to pick just the right one. My purse was safe and never left my side and both hands were free to carry stuff back to the cart.

I also tried it out on my Starbucks run the other day and it worked perfectly!

I don't splurge on a chocolate croissant very often, but man was it good.

I also had to buy some new walking shoes. My old ones were well over 5 years old. My son convinced me to get some fancy NMD's because he loves his so much. At almost $200, they were way more than I wanted to spend. But I got them anyway because people really seem to rave about them. It's hard to find a negative review online. They have "release dates" for new colors coming out and they always sell out immediately. Well...after trying on several styles/sizes in the store and bringing them home, I quickly realized they weren't going to work for me. They have this loop/tag in the back that scraped against my ankle with every step. I thought I could make it work, but nope. Not doing that. So back to the store they went and I decided to go to Kohl's to see what they had. I found exactly what I wanted and with a sale and my coupon, it was about 1/4 of the price. A win-win!

Here's what I settled on. Skechers Flex Appeal 2.0 with memory foam...

I must say that my son was very disappointed that I got "grandma shoes" ha! But no one is going to see me wearing them on my treadmill at home and that memory foam makes them very comfy, so whatev. :)

Do you have a favorite brand of walking shoes? I'm always interested in new styles, so please share in the comments.

Oh, and really quickly, here are a couple more IG funnies I forgot to add in the last round. Enjoy!

So funny, right?!

Thanks for stopping by!
