Musings

This post is another round of this and that and what's been going on around here, with a few garden pics thrown in for good measure.

I added some Angelonia to my garden recently. They're supposed to be able to take our heat, so I'll keep you posted. I picked them up in purple and white. My garden center had these on sale for $1 apiece, so I figured I couldn't go wrong. :)

Over the years, I've had several requests to do a post about how we designed our backyard garden. I'm finally sitting down to do that, but it's taking awhile because I have so much to say (big surprise - ha!) I've been furiously snapping pics of the backyard in between all the rain we've had and will hopefully have the post up soon.

So, by now I'm sure most of you have seen the famous "Chewbacca Lady" but in case you haven't, click below to see her. You'll laugh until you cry!

I love this woman and the simple joys she gets from everyday things (like Chewbacca masks) I could be her best friend. :)

We finally saw "The Revenant" the other day and it was really good.

But...this was the closest I've come to actually tossing my cookies while watching a film. Those of you that have seen it probably know what I'm talking about, and I'm not going to spoil it for any who have yet to see it, but oh my goodness. There's one scene that's so gross. The reason I almost lost it was because I knew what he was doing was real. Like, let's just say he was consuming something and it wasn't a prop. They filmed the scene with both a prop and again with the real thing, but the real thing was what made it into the final cut. Ewww!

Other than that, it was fantastic and I can see why it won so many awards. Even with it being almost 2 1/2 hours, it kept my attention the whole time.

I finally binge watched several episodes of Fuller House too.

It was cute and so neat to see all of them together again. I don't know if I'll watch all 10 episodes, but it was something to keep me occupied while my oldest and hubby were glued to the tv watching racing all.day.long. Apparently the Indy 500, Monaco Grand Prix, and the Coca Cola 600 make them very happy. We love Jr. around here. (that's Dale Earnhardt Jr. for you non-racing people) Lol!

We also recently watched "Room" which I highly recommend and "The Runner," a personal fave. ;) And we have "Joy" to watch this weekend. Definitely looking forward to that. Some others we've recently watched are Zoolander 2, The Intern, Daddy's Home, The Martian, Love the Coopers, Burnt, and The Visit. All very entertaining. Have y'all watched any of these? What did you think?

I'll end with a few more garden pics since we just mowed the yard...

Our Netflix queue is getting pretty low, so if you have any movie suggestions for me, let me know in the comments. Y'all have a great day!

  1. You've been quite the movie watcher lately! I haven't seen many of those that you mentioned. I did see the Revenant though. It was good, but not my favorite movie. A little too much violence for my taste. It's hard to believe it's based on a real story huh? Your yard pics always look so good. It has been super hot here and not that much rain. So, we could use a little of the excess that you're getting.

  3. Your garden looks great, can't wait to see your big post! I had not seen the Chewbacca mom. She certainly is having a ball. I love when stuff like that happens. Nothing like a spontaneous laughing fit to make you, well, laugh!! I read Room...it was tough. I bet the movie was tough to watch too, but I heard it was good.

  4. Ohhhhhh, I can't wait for the yard post! That will be so neat and give me some good ideas. I don't have a blog, but this is why I love them- so many great ideas and yours is one of my faves! We love Jr. here too and although my boy is only 4, he and his daddy love watching the races together too. I may try the Revenant as my hubby has been wanting to see it- I may have one or both eyes closed though..ha!;) blessings from NC...

    1. Well, our similarities continue with our love for Jr.! ;) My son is in college now and has been a fan since probably Kindergarten. We had all the racing inspired lunchboxes and everything. Lol! I don't know a lot about the cars, races, etc. but I do know to be happy when Jr. wins. Ha! I think you'd like The Revenant...just be prepared to look away when he eats a certain animal part. ;)
