A Few of My Favorite Things

Okay, so like I promised, I'm back with a handful of my favorite things. :)

Let's get right to it with this Enjoy hair straightener.

I buy it on Amazon for about $10-$15. It's a gel consistency. I just wash my hair and towel dry it. Then I put the Enjoy on and blow dry it straight. I'm always looking for new products to help straighten my unruly curly hair and this one works great!

Speaking of hair, I've never spent a ton on shampoo. I usually buy Suave shampoos and conditioners. I guess I'm old fashioned because I still subscribe to the idea that it's good to use a "clarifying" shampoo every two weeks or so to strip your hair of all the product build up.

So, this is what I've been using...

As you can see, it's still Suave brand. :) You can get it pretty much anywhere for under $2. I just buy it at the grocery store. Sometimes I use a lot of product in my hair and I feel this helps to kind of give it a deep clean.

Now for the cat lovers out there. Santa brought Holly this spray cat nip for Christmas and she LOVES it!

We've always used the dried catnip, but this is so much easier to use and less messy. I can spray it on any toy of hers and she goes wild. :) I even sprayed some on her scratching post and she LOVED that! We, I mean SANTA got it at Petsmart for $6.

The last two are things we enjoyed at Christmas. I know, I know...you're wondering why I didn't share these BEFORE Christmas. Well, just think of it as being super early in planning for NEXT Christmas. :)

This is hands down the best gingerbread house kit we've used. Here's what the box looks like...

Here's another pic of the one my son made that I put on Instagram...

Wilton gingerbread house made exclusively for Michael's stores

You can probably see it's made exclusively by Wilton for Michael's stores. My youngest son built it and he was impressed with how well the icing "glued" everything together. Apparently the icing REALLY held the roof and sides together and made it easy peasy for the candies to stick to the roof, etc. In the past, we've had problems with the roofs sliding off, but not with this one. Another thing we liked with this one was the variety of candy. All in all, we gave it 5 stars. :) We bought it at Michael's for $5 (with a 50% off coupon)

Last, but not least is our Christmas ham we bought at HEB this year. If you're not in Texas, they probably have this flavor at other stores too. Or at least something similar.

HEB spiral sliced ham

Did you see that? TEXAS PECAN PRALINE AND VANILLA MAPLE!!! I mean, you can't go wrong with that flavor combo, can you? Yum!!! I'm making a note to try and find this flavor next year too. Everyone loved it (even my picky eater) :) And if you ARE local, HEB has $10 off these hams this week.

Well, that's it for now. So tell me, have you tried any of these things? What did you think?

  2. This kind of post is always fun to me. I love Suave products and use them all the time. I actually like to have two or three different shampoos in the shower and alternate. The Suave products are all great. No need for straightener here...my hair is as straight as a wall!

    That ham looks wonderful!

  3. I have curly hair too, so that hair gel might be a good one to look into! I rarely straighten mine though because it takes SO long and I'm impatient.

  6. Love all these Lisa. I am going to tell my younger daughter about the Enjoy. She has very curly hair and lots of it so I think this product will work when she blow dries and straightens her hair too. I love Suave products they are wonderful and at a great price. Thanks for sharing your finds.

  7. I love when you do your favorite things post!! It's a nice way to learn about products and such :)
I'm right along side of you with the whole not spending much on shampoo. I find Suave products work so well and they are so inexpensive so win win!
And I had no idea they made gingerbread houses kits!!! I'm totally doing that with Lily (and the baby who will be around by then) next year! You must think I live under a rock! ha!

  8. Love all these! I used to spend a fortune on shampoo but now I buy Pantene. I will have to try the Suave clarifying one since I use a lot of product in my hair. Your son's ginger bread house turned out darling too!!! Have a great weeekend!!!

  9. I have to try ENJOY since I also need to straighten my hair often. And also the suave shampoo! Lately, I've been using an Argan Oil based conditioner that I love, problem is, I got it from TJMaxx, and you know what that means, here now, gone tomorrow. Anyway, I have to do a gingerbread house too for next Christmas, I was thinking of doing one last time, but got too busy, so we just did Christmas cookies. Thanks for sharing your fave dear and Happy New Year!

  10. The gingerbread house is so pretty...Wilton has great products. I'm going to look for that next year. And the shampoo. I pretty much try to buy what's on sale but my hair girl has mentioned using clarifying shampoo once in awhile. I rarely use hair products, just a little Moroccan oil rubbed into the very ends. I will look for this so I can use it every couple of days.

Thanks for some great ideas! :)

  11. We bought the same gingerbread houses from Michaels! And let me just say, ours did not look like that! Lol ;) my husbands and sons looked awesome but not mine and our daughters... So you have to tell your son he has some pretty fab talent! And I'll have to watch out for that ham... that flavour sounds ahhh-mazing! Thanks for sharing, Lisa!

    1. Oh, that is too funny about the gingerbread! I've never been great at decorating them either. I think I'm just too impatient. :) Hope your week is off to a great start, friend!

  12. I'll have to try the hair straightener. I just wash and put in pig tails or braids but it takes forever to dry.
That gingerbread house looks amazing. The kit I picked up wasn't very good. Great favorites.
