My Giveaway Loot and a Tray Makeover

Hello, and Happy Friday!

So, sweet Stephanie Lynn hosted a giveaway recently, and I won!! I was so excited when this arrived on my doorstep...

I was itching to use that pretty green and white shelf paper and I knew just what I wanted to do with it. Remember when I mentioned I was going to do a little tray makeover? Here's the tray I was talking about...

I bought it for $1 at Target about a year ago. It's been waiting all this time for me to make it pretty. :) As y'all know, I finally got a New Pouf For The Living Room. I tend to use it as a side table at times. I love it, but since it's kind of squishy, I couldn't rest my coffee cup on it. Then I remembered I had this tray and thought it would be perfect.

I started by spray painting it Heirloom White.

Here's the shelf liner I used from my prize pack...

And just look at what it says..."great for use as a coaster!" That's pretty much exactly what I was going to be using it for!

I started by tracing my tray on the back of the shelf liner.

Then I just cut it out and popped it in my tray! Quickest project ever!

I love how it turned out!

Here's a close up. I love the green print.

And here it is doing its job of holding my coffee cup (actually, that's tea in my coffee cup, but whatever) :)

I love that I can now have my tea close by when lounging on the sofa reading blogs or watching tv.

And of course I can't leave you without a side by side before and after comparison...

Not bad for a dollar, huh?

I'm sure I'll get plenty of use out of the rest of the products I was sent as well. I'll keep ya'll posted on what I create. :)

  3. I am so doing this - I've tried small coasters and large trays on our family room ottoman for my coffee and neither works so well. Yours is the perfect solution. I'm hunting for one of those trays on my next Target trip!

  10. Lisa,
Your comment process is void of google plus! Hooray! I love your post. I'm jealous of your poof! Is that what they call the hassock? Glad we connected!

    1. Thanks, Janine! I think they kind of made up the name "pouf" lol! But yeah, it's pretty much just an ottoman. :) They keep re-inventing things to make us want to buy them...and it's working on me! Ha! So glad we connected too! Hope you have a great week!

  11. You know, I have the exact same trays, although I got mine for much more of a bargain at 25 cents at Goodwill! You just gave me a fantastic idea dear, thanks!
